TBI and Headers for a 2.8L V6
Right now I have the stock Throttle body but I hear if I put in a 4.3 TBI it can lead to around 20Hp gain. What all do I need to do in order to do this swap? Do I need to get a new intake system and get rid of the dual snorkel. Also I know Pacesetter make headers for this engine does it bolt right on or will i need extra parts to get it down to the Cat? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you talking about just swapping the throttle body from a 4.3 over or swapping the whole engine? You are not gonna gain 20hp just from a throttle body swap, not sure if it will even bolt on either. As far as headers go, they will bolt right up, but if you have an air pump, you will have to delete that.

I know in the S-trucks, when you switch the original 2.8 for a 3.4, putting on a 4.3 TBI does give you a little more oomph (technical term) when running down the road. Sometimes you have to clearance the intake for the larger throttle plates to clear.
Are you running a TBI setup on the 2.8 in your Camaro?
Those headers will work great in your Camaro.

Mine is a MPFI, just had seen people talking online talking about buying an edlebrock intake system and having the hole bored to fit a 4.3 Throttle Body.

This car was a Field find. Found it when I was stationed in missouri. The car wasn't running when I bought it. I put in a brand new 2.8 MPFI engine, with a K&N Intake and a Dynomax exhaust system. Im sure its sitting at around 140-145hp now. I know everyone wants the V8's in these but I want to try and get her up to 200hp. Just need to know what I may need to do in order to do that and what the best parts may be.

The Edlebrock intake is for TBI, not MPFI.

Turbocharger hahahahhahah
But while we're laughing, there are guys doing it here, and its not THAT costly. Are you still in the service? If you are you can do most of the labor over at the auto hobby shop.

Woulda loved to have taken that 3.8 Turbo out of a Grand National and put it in my camaro but hard to find them Grand Nationals and If I did I would probably keep the car.

Well, if you've got access then you should go and get familiar with the place. I used it an awful lot when I was active duty. There is NOTHING that you can't accomplish in there.
I'm not using a Grand National setup, although their setup is inspiring and helpful when I need a plan or something to copy. It worked well, so no reason not to look there for options. The Turbo Trans Am setup is ideal, with the exception of the stick flywheel, but those are also not obtainable.
Instead, I am building a stock of parts and I will hybrid my way there. In order to more easily use 3rd/4th gen parts to keep the costs low, my recipe is this, thus far:
-3.8 FWD block (transmission bolt pattern is the same as the 2.8 or later 3.4/3800 engines so that I can use parts designed for that setup)
-3.0/3.8 FWD heads similar to the Turbo Trans Am from the wrecking yard (to allow better fitment to the A/C box; GN or standard Buick V6 heads hit the box)
-3800 Series 1 crankshaft (8 bolt flange allows the use of the 4th gen flywheel 95-2002 3800 Series 2)
-GNX spec camshaft
-Used GN headers and crossover modified to fit FWD Buick heads
-Poly GN mounts with G-body Buick V6 frame brackets (crossmember drilled to accept the Buick brackets)
-Aftermarket GN turbo from eBay
-Aftermarket GN downpipe, cut and hacked up to fit the 3rd gen
-LS MAF with MAF translator for GN
I will use a V8 T5 for now, with my modified G-Force T5 at the ready as backup. It will be in the stock location, so no need to monkey with the driveshaft or anything else initially. I will mount the torque arm to the crossmember as well.
All of the above can easily be put together at your auto hobby shop on base. We used to build racing 3rd gens and Fox Mustangs back when I was in!
Good luck, whatever you decide!
