Dodge trucks and thrid gen's
ok is it just me or is every dodge truck you come across, for some reason the guy driving thinks its fast???
i have wooped every size and model of v4-v6-v8-v10 truck dodge makes.
and the best one was a dude in a extended cab/bed dually disel, who just kept trying and trying. he would not give up. he kept losing but he would not give up.
i do love dodge and i fell bad for them, they might consider bringing the hemi back for the trucks.
maybe then they can take a 80's gm v6.
think most of it has to do with having a 2.8
i got it on my front and back window, in white letters.
5spd 2.8 ramair
they think that means slow, hahahahahahaha

Maybe you could get us some pics ! Those Ram Air vents are actually pretty sweet looking. Your whole ride has a good edge in the way it looks, but man, what's with the rear window? Not trying to flame, but it's awfully, erm, colorful with stickers? I just like low key stuff, I guess. Nice hood still though.

my back window is a bit busy, it is a pair of racing flags with pcperformance-usa.com going across them.
its done in reflective stuff, cost like 30 bucks to have made at sign pro.
i went sign nuts about 16 months ago and got bunches of stickers made to try and get some local traffic, but then i stop doing computer service.(i hate stupid people)
i even had them on the doors, but i took them off.
so the back windows is a bit busy, was more for free advetising than anything, it does look nice at nite.
but only if you were in a car behind me, pics can not capture it very well.
and for the letters i did, the
5sp 2.8 ramair
i just used boat letters, cost like 11cents each, they are water/weather proof and are able to stick to like glass surfaces, so i used them.
i was thinking next summer of having all the stirpes re-done with reflective stuff,on the hood and side of car.i would do everything in yellow and white stripes, steelers colors.
i got some more pics posted in my sig, soon as it gets dark i will take some more.

It Must be just the newer Dodges. I have a 1970 Dodge stepside with a Bad 360 in it. Best thing about it, it has now smog crapp on it , no converters and no EGR. It can actually breathe.
I dont think my 89 firebird would have a prayer.
Unless it was a road course.

Just checked out your site, I like the ram-air design you made! Does it get the air from both scoops, or just the passenger side?
And I know what you mean about trucks... what I don't understand is why they want to (A) speed and (B) take corners fast? If someone wants to do that, they should get a sports car, not a truck!

oh yea it gets air from both side, and it works really well.
about 3000 rpm in second gear is when you feel it start to take affect.
and it almost feels like a power boost, like on a dirt bike when you hit the power band.
you can fell it pull and you can use full rev's without any lose of power.
it also was cheap & easy, and i dont think anyone has it yet. cost about 100 buck total.
i drive all year round rain, snow, shine it works great.

Your ram air idea is very nice. It looks like crap though
i think if you cleaned it up a bit and took away all the black tape from all the tubes it would be killer. What size tubing are you using? My firebird was getting choked with anything less than 3". Not to just bag on your car, thats not what im intending, but the tips look a little weird... i think if they were parallel with the rear bumper and not sagging towards the ground it would look better.. but just my .10

I dunno about dodges, but I keep having freggin rangers/S10's and POS F150's tring to race. I laugh openly at them as I am squelling second away from them. And yes I know about the lightnings. And yes I stay in the stable when they show.:>

well its kinda hard finding a bendalbe, flexable hose that you can squish under a hood like that, and on the left side i had to put shielding so that the alt. did not tear it up and what works best on ducting, ducttape.
i used squares of metal flashing for the guard.
most of it is held together with clear silicone, it is glued to the hood with it. just that one part and where the hose connects to the maf did i use ducttape, then it all was painted with black rubber sealer.
the hose i used is a bit bigger than the stock hose.
4 inches maybe 5.
just hi temp dryer hose from andersons, 30 bucks gets you 50 feet.
i would like to get the hose on the hood redone with metal but it would not be easy.
the rest would still need to felx, so when opeing and closing the hood it did not bend or get blocked off.
but i dont open the hood much and it works.
the car just has the stock cat back system on it and they allways bend the pipes down and the whole reson for the tip was not looks but to get the sound out from under the car.
now only if i roll down my window and listen can i hear my exhaust.

Hey ramair, how does the filter setup work?? The pictures don't really show what kinda filter you got on the intake. I see the MAF and tubing only, where's your filter(s)?

well first i have steel screen just inside the scoops on the hood, the biggest hole size metal screen you can get.
it catches the bugs, leaves and to keep the acorns out.
(we have nothing but giant acorn trees everywhere, its like ww3 when they start to fall, you hear them comming through the leaves and you duck for cover. they will put you down. also lots of nice small dents in your car)
then near the maf im using the filter element from an eddlebrock 1000 cfm air cleaner, also the one piece just insdie of it, to keep the car from sucking the air cleaner up.
its washable too. i did that not too long ago and i had some brown duct tape that sucked.
it needs re-done near the maf.
but i go more for function than looks, if i could find a good furance guy to re do the hood in metal,
use a small piece of what i got now for the felx joint, to open and close the hood, use somehing like the big hose out of a cold air kit.
it would look nicer.

86bird_28v6_5spd_ramair - I like the Ramair setup. It looks good, all be it a bit ghetto
WayneRS - Uhmm... Lightnings aren't 14sec Trucks... Trust me
Bone stock (except for the oil), mine ran 13.7@101. What can I say, it's a sportscar in a fridge's clothing
Anyways, all three vehicles I own are different in their own unique ways. What you drive, and why, is all about personal preference.
