A Dangerous Path

I just came across a pic that has me thinking...

Here's a link to the post over in the Fiero forums: link

Here's a pic:

Except instead of the intake snaking under the dogbone (we don't have one) I might just shoot straight up. I'll have to do some thinking on this... Not sure if I could keep it down that low either.

Re: A Dangerous Path

My local junkyard has a Bonneville SSEI... they said they'd sell the supercharger (an M90 I think) for $100.

Re: A Dangerous Path

turbo will still be easier and make more power then a crappy m90. also u need a m90 off a super coupe as those are made to be remote mounted

Re: A Dangerous Path

I would also love to try this with a V6/T5 3rd-Gen Camaro. I agree with project89 about the M90 off a Thunderbird SuperCoupe being the best place to start and that a turbocharger will make more power. A healthy 300WHP, or a little more, shouldn't be too hard to extract from the set-up, though. I'm not sure I completely agree with a turbocharger being "easier," but we won't know till somebody tries.

Yeah, I'm not sure a turbo is "easier". It's all quite relative - fabricating up the exhaust and plumbing the oil line are harder to me than fabricating up a belt drive. So for me, a supercharger is easier.

Re: A Dangerous Path

Supercharger to manifold adapter, or a bracket if remote mounted.

Yeah, I'd remote mount it. And yes, the bracket and plenum plumbing are easier for me.

I've started some sketches to give me some ideas. I'll have to get some measurements and make a mock-up and see how I'm gonna do this.

For now though, it is put off for a little bit. I had to throw some money at an OBD-II cable and my wife's 2007 Cobalt - I'm trying to get her airbag light to stay off.
