3.1L crank, but no start.
OK i will try and make this short. Car was running last night, took it for 30+ miles drive with a stop in between. Got it home parked it. Woke up to take wife to breakfast got in car. it started right up and i let it idle to warm up. ( its getting colder here ). she was taking forever. and the car has always idled goofy. So i decided to grab some brake cleaner, and pop the hood and spray the vacuum lines a little to see for idle change. Nothing. so i tried a little timing adjustment... nothing... then i unplugged the air temp? sensor in the air filter canister. and the idle went up a bit and smoothed out. I was like o maybe its bad. so i left it off. went to move the car. 3 feet. it dies. starts back up. move it 3 feet it dies. plugged sensor back in. Now it will crank all day and not even try to start.
I have spark at the cylinders, pressure at the rail, (not sure the psi yet).
Alot of parts are new and all gaskets are new..
FPR, fuel injetors, gaskets, distributor, ign coil, cap rotor, plugs wires,.
I do not understand what is going on... Any help is always appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

Have you checked the injector fuses? Also, how new are the injectors and what make. I had "new" from Rockauto and one went out after just a few months. One bad injector and she won't fire. You could try spraying starter fluid in the throttle body while someone cranks it. If it fires you need to check the injector resistances. Then on from there.

The injectors are like 2 months old. Got them from Southbay. Full set. just installed 2 weeks ago or so. Injector fuses? are those under the dash? I did not know there were fuse(s) for them. I will try starter fluid this afternoon hopefully. This is the first time i am just simply stumped on why its not starting...

Recheck your timing and vacuum connections. Make sure hold down bolt torqued properly.

Won't start with starter fluid. All fuses good under the dash. Fuse on the passenger side inner fender is good. How can you ohm test the injectors without pulling the upper plenum? Still have spark from the coil. Going to pull a plug tomo to see if it's wet but I seriously doubt it. First time I've ever been lost with this car....

When it was doing what? I had an engine code at one time prolly but it was after i unplugged the air temp sensor. So i am sure it was from that. but in the process to get the car started again i pulled the battery for a few hours to hopefully clear the ecm... and now when i get i just get 12 constantly....

I know when the ecm thinks that there is a new sensor in the car like a MAF it will go through a relearn cycle which could take some time for it to relearn the sensor and program it.

So i got the ign module tested it shows fine.... i tried a new Air inlet charge temp sensor. Still wont start... does the fuel pump run until it hits a certain pressure? seems after i try to crank it, i can hear the pump running for a bit longer than i expect it too. Is there a fuel pressure sensor somewhere? could that have gone bad all of a sudden? this thing will crank all day long and not even try to start. even with starter fluid? I can see spark at the plugs. but with starter fluid shouldnt it at least try to run since it has fuel and spark?....

I can't think of a reason it wouldn't at least fire with starting fluid if you've got sparks. Even if the timing was way off it should do something. Unless you have zero compression which is unlikely. But you should check. Typically the pump should run for a second or two then shut off when up to pressure.

i see spark. maybe its week? i would hate to buy another ign coil just for nothing to change... and i agree. you would get something. sputtering, backfire, chugging, something...

Checked fuel pressure. Have 42 psi while cranking... Def have spark. Pulled a plug. Left it plugged in to the spark plug boot. And I get a nice bright spark while cranking... tried a new air charge temp sensor. Didn't help. I can see some puffs out of the spark plug hole while cranking. I am working alone atm. So I don't have anyone to crank while i check things. Thoughts? Thanks!

Re: 3.1L crank, but no start.
do you know if your fuel injectors are actually working the way they are suppose to. If so then your timing is off. if there is spark and known fuel entering the cylinder then the only other thing that i can think of would be a timing issue.

DID YOU EVER FIGURE OUT THIS ISSUE? HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM
