How do I get my ignition into the ACCESSORIES positon?
I know the ACCESSORIES is behind the Lock position. But I just can't seem to get it in that position. So, I have to play my stereo in the ON and RUN positions.

All switches are like that. But my car was starting to wear out, and would no longer go in accessories mod. So I changed it to a key switch I got out of an S-10. For a few years there was no accessories on the S-10 key switch.
So there are two possiblilities, someone has replace the swith before you bought the car. Or the switch in your car is starting to go.

Sometimes if your key is worn it won't go. Mine would go with one key, but no the other. Then again that key was so worn I could just pull it out with the lock in any position.

Mike, mine's the same way- I love throwing it in the lap of someone next to me when I'm on a major highway- especially girls- you want to see someone freak out? Wow!
But yah, on my switch, I really have to "work" to get it into the accesory position. A point to note, guys- leaving the key "on" but with the engine off can overheat the ignition module.

When I started having problems with my key I sprayed some powder graphite in the and worked like a charm. My key did what it was suppose to do. It used to get stuff in and no it doesn't but I guess your problem is it DOESNT get stuck in haha. Well hope this helps someone out there.
You got a 5 speed so I don't know cause I got an automatic. I have to push the button on the shifter to turn my key to accessory or to remove it. Maybe you got some kind of similar deal like you gotta pull the e-brake.

Belker, you need to push on the button? That's odd. What year is your car? When I had my stock '86 shifter for my automatic, I didn't have to do that; and it hasn't done that on the other f-bodies I've driven (83 Camaro, 84 Firebird, 87 camaro, 89 camaro, 91 Firebird)... so I wonder if yours is broken somehow, or if it was a "special" safety option.
My car is a '91 RS. When I first got it I didn't have to push the shifter button to remove the key. One day the key got stuck in the ignition. I could switch the key from drive to stop but that was it. Thanks to someone at thirdgen.org helping, I figured out that I could have normal key function as long as I held the button on the shifter. I have to assume that there is something wrong with the switch in the shifter that tells the ignition cylinder if the car is in Park. I can't figure it out but isn't a real high piority since I figured out how to get the key to work.

Oh, okay! I thought the car came like that from GM!
Hey, it's a good excuse to put in a B&M Megashifter- they have you wire that cable closed. You can take the key out in any position.. and it's kind of handy in the garage. If I have to push the car forward or backward, I just reach in, and push the stick to neutral- no digging for keys!

Usually, that sounds like a key cylinder problem.. if the steering column was worked on or needs to be worked on, that happens. If its repaired correctly, the ACC position will work just fine, if not it wont.
