BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I custom made the best rims ever known to man. You guys will get a kick out of this.
It started out as a concept, well not even a concept, a 5 minute picture edit job my friend did on paint. It was a joke, since I'm so picky about rims.
A few weeks ago, my friend had bought a 1986 V6 Camaro, for $500. He was just trying to copy my awesomeness.
It fit our little concept picture perfectly, since it's black. It does not run, and probably never will. The snow definitely won't bother it.
Then it snowed.. So we thought, why not?
Here you go! They are 18 inch Snow Man Rims, wrapped in 275/40/18 Ice tires. I couldn't resist.. It's the Holidays, someone has to bring a bit of humor around.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I do not think it would look good at all... Firebirds have softer fender flair edges, where the IROC 5 spoke rim does not look right IMHO... The IROC has the hard crease for the fender flair, so they can pull it off much easier...

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
They're 18" x 8.5" with a 5mm offset, unfortunately I forget what the backspacing is... I love these wheels, they have a nice flush look on the car and they constantly receive compliments... Also the build quality is great, they've been on the car for over three years now and i've never wrecked one... You can rest a lil easier knowing that bone-jarring pothole you just hit didn't cost you $300 dollars, haha... Eventually i'll have the rears widened, just havn't had the initiative yet...
To me, the look of these wheels flow perfectly with the stock body lines...

Damn, my old paint was faded.. haha...

Here are mine. They are Stern 18X8.5 front and 18X10 Rear. I am a tire size too small on the rear but I will fix that when I get the next set.

stock springs. I need to get some oval tubing for the dual exhaust where it runs under the trans x-member before I lower it.

These have my vote, hoping to snag a set, but they will fit our cars with small spacers.

Found a few more pics of my Deep Dish Y2Ks. Thought you guys would enjoy. Sad part is that I have not been able to take them out for a test drive
Currently in the process of tearing down the car to get it ready for paint next month. Will post pics of the process.

Found some pics of my old '82
These were Fenton rims from the 60's (Centerline lookalikes) that i bought to replace my beat up stockers. They were extremely lightweight.

the fronts were 15x6 and the backs were 15x8 or 9
I'd love to find the current owner and trade them up for the ones on my Camaro..

They remind me a lot of the BBS mesh wheels, but they are a bit more expensive than most other designs like it.
Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
LOL, that's awesome, I think I pulled that pic from LS1tech since I frequent there and here, considering my car is some what of a hybrid. Do you like those wheels? They have to be one of the most gorgeous wheel designs on firebirds. Gives it and almost instant road racing appearance.

The ONLY thing I have negative to say is the water/brake dust marks left on the front dish. But that is with any deep dish wheel so that isn't necessarily a complaint about these rims, just deep dish rims in general.
They stay looking clean for around 2 weeks if you drive it everyday in normal conditions then they need a wash but nothing extreme. I take them off about once every 3 months to clean the inside of them rim.
Extremely happy, especially for the price.

Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to look good.

My '83 was lowered almost 3". Even with >26" tall tires on the front and >27" tall tires on the back I regularly tore pieces off the bottom of the car... I think I smashed 2 tranny pans going over bumps in the road and my wife smashed the exhaust on a gas station in-ground tank fill cap (next time you're at a gas station take a look at those things... that car was low...). Take it off, hammer it straight, weld it back together and get on with your life... the car handled awesome also.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Still, no one has ever put 15" Gen2 Rally II Wheels on a 3rd Gen car? I'm surprised no one has a pick of such?? I know I have been asking for a while now . I'm still working on this car and its not at teh stage to be concerned about wheels . . but its coming. I want an older look for the '84 Trans Am. I painted the engine Pontiac blue during the engine work . . thought I would like some of the 2nd Gen graphics and possibly some non- trim rings Rally IIs. Any help??

Also, does anyone have any more info or a more specific name on the american racing/ eagle alloy sawblades from a few posts back? I've tried googling them but can't seem to come up with any prices, specs, or installed pics. I figured they'd be easy to find since I remember them being everywhere when I was a kid in the mid to late 90's.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
yeah the vette rims are cool if you have a nice brake setup
but i like the ronal firehawks 17x9.5
unfortunately there are only
three of the set of four available
these days-discontinued rare and expensive
i purchased the last available set of four
for the original price- they are super deepdish

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I'd put these on just about any car. They are one off customs made for a mini-tubed first gen camaro. The rears are 11inches wide and have 335/35/18's on them. The centers were sanded to a silver finish then clear coated per the owners request.

This is the car they were made for.

Your correct. This car has a Detroit Speed four link set up that has not been adjusted at all. I am still wiring and plumbing the car. After we get all the weight in it we are getting it aligned which will include aligning the rear end.

^ that's what I figured. The 68' we did looked the same way (we also ran the DSE kit). We waited until the new rear was finished and all the weight was in the car to get everything fit perfectly. Looks good!
