I know it's been answered 1000 times, but will 285/40-17s fit in the rear of a '92 RS or will I have to worry about spacing? Thanks, and NO BS. Just answer the question.

Good. Cause they cost like $250 each (taking into account installation, tax, insurence, etc...)

Just get the bs right depending on a 3rd or 4th gen & your golden.
4.5"bs for a 3rd gen rear.
4.5"bs for a 3rd gen rear.

It is how wheels used to be measured from the day there were created until the 1990s. Then the imports screwed that up & all the manufacturers switched over to the Euro/Import crap way of saying Offset.
BS (backspacing) was simple. Take a wheel, lay a straight edge across the back lips. Measure from there to the hub mounting surface & BOOM! You had the backspacing.
Now you have to do the same measurement but in Metric, know the width of the wheel, then do some match with the width, that measurement & figuring out what the distance is between the measured bs & the width of the wheel. Backspacing was a SIMPLE thing that my 9 yr old could have found. They screwed it up going metric & Offset!

Thanks man. That's some great help. Don't know where in Texas you are, but you should come over here to Katy for this event. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/sout...cle-super.html

Well....1 hour to get to Austin, 4 hours to get to Houston. 10 hours round trip PLUS the time there? Definitely an overnight thing which means a motel room (or sleeping behind the gas station in my car. been there, done that!)

Ooooh yah. That sounds awsome. I have college then, but I should be able to work something out. I should have alot more stuff done to my car by then too. I'm thinking full exhaust, open air element, ultamate TBI, better intake manifold, rear end gears, maybe some heads.

Open air element cleaners look cool, but aren't the best option for performance since they just feed an engine with the hot air from under the hood. Colder air has more oxygen & makes more power.
Put on a Cold Air Intake system & the engine can breathe better and make more power.
