Alternator recommendations

I think it's time to replace my alternator and I was just wondering what you guys recommend. I have put in power windows, locks, and some other accessories since I bought the car. I also plan on putting in dual electric fans, so I was wanting to upgrade from the stock output. What brands are good and what power rating should I look for? Thanks alot.

Buy a new A/C Delco with 105 amps should handle what you have. Stay away from Autoparts stores rebuilt ones.

How many amps are good for a Camaro with underdrive pullys and a 1 amp stereo. I also run a MSD. I get plenty when the car is off idle but I could use a little more.

The B4C is a 140amp alternator. Just ask for a 91-92 Camaro alternator and specify the 140amp one.

For your info the B4C option Alternator was for the Police package. If you still want a 140 amp one just ask for the highest output A/C Delco one they have and forget about B4C code.

I looked in the AC Delco catalog today at work and it listed the 105 alternator as the highest amperage alternator. It didn't list the BC4.

If you go the B4C alt route, don't forget to buy the B4C alt bracket (p/n 10118722) from GM.

The following was taken from the post at the forum you sent us a link to.

If you go the B4C alt route, don't forget to buy the B4C alt bracket (p/n
10118722) from GM.

10118722 doesn't exist in our database. I was hoping this part number would lead
me to the alternator in question but to no success. We did however find out that
the B4C option is a police package vehicle. 90-92 only shows two alternators in
the catalog. One is 100amp the other is 105amp. The VIN you sent does show that
the car came with the B4C option. GM shows that the alternator for this vehicle
is the

10463172 alternator 105 amp

We have no knowledge of a 140 amp alternator. Good luck!

As I said in the previous Post the B4C was the Rpo code for the Police package and not for a type of Alternator. The highest AMP
A/C Delco is 105 max. And the brackets fits both Delco Alternators. Let this be a lesson, don't go after something without good info.:lala: :lala: :lala:

I bought an Iceberg 140amp. Put in in about a month ago and haven't had any problems.

From my research, the Caprice alternator for police/taxi applications is a 124-amp model. They cost about $150 plus core.
