THe formula would have the aero spoiler and the buldge hood, also the VIN's will be located on both the hatch and the hood if you look for the vin stickers. Also All Formulas got 16" rims.

The spoiler seen on the back of the yellow car above, it wraps around the rear window. The Aero spoiler was an option on 1985 T/A's, deletable on 1986 TA's and standard on trans ams, Formulas, and GTA's for 87 thru 1992.
The striaght wing was standard on 82-85 Trans Am's, and an option on Firebirds from 82-84ish seems to be standard firebird fare from 85-92.

This is from F-body motorsports;
1 = USA (country of manufacture)
G = General Motors
2 = Pontiac
F = Firebird
S = Firebird base model
2 = These 2 digits should be 87 for 2 door coupe
1 = 21 would be 2 door coupe with manual seat belts after '88
H = 305-4BBL-V8
9 = Check Digit
H = Year Model
N = Norwood assembly plant
221085 = Production Number
I'm not sure if this is right check at www.fbodymotorsports.com or possibly someone else has a better hand at VIN decoding.I ran a carfax and it says it an '87 Firebird 305/4BBL
