No Power

Ok here it is me and my friend installed a Dual XD 7500 in a 98 hyundai tiburon....we bought a concector to the stock wiring and we hooked it all up and went to turn it on..no power..checked the fuses and they were all good and all the wires were connected..unsnapped the connector plugged in the stock radio and plugged in the power..one again nothing!!!!! Checked the fuses again....audio fuse was blown in the box replaced it and tried each radio again nothing...the only thing i can think of would be the ground but im not sure how to redo it. Should i just splice the ground wire comming off the stereo and run a new ground or do i have to mess with the factory wire???

One of my friends also mentioned maybe running a new power cord from the unit to the battery..not sure how to do that either...just splice the yellow wire and run a strait wire to the battery??

try new Ground. If that dosent work try running a new SWITCHED power off the fuse box or steering colum wireing to the RED wire off the radio. Run CONSTANT power off fuse box or steering colum to the YELLOW wire off radio. IF still nothing then the radio is bad.

switched power = ONLY hot when key is ON
constant power = ALWAYS hot

Use a multimeter to test or take it somewhere and have it done

we charge $35 at circuit city.

yeah for constant you can but not switched. For switched tap into the yellow or white wire coming off the ignition harness.

Will the battery run down if i dont hook it up to a switch if i run it constant?? Thanks for all your help. Never had any trouble at a Circuit City except here in Lafayette, IN. The road shop took off my pin on hood which would still raise from the front and stay up and scratched the hell out of it when the installed my neons. I love my car and im sure you do too. Also felt uncomfortable walking in there and hearing one of the installation guys saying... DAMNIT!! oh well there getting a radio and thats what they wanted...

If i lived where you do..you would deffinitly be my guy to get sh*t done right

well if you want you can hook the yellow and red up to the constant from the battery. But you will have to turn the radio on and off manualy

and if i wanted it switched i would run a wire from the battery to the yellow wire comming off the radio and run a wire from the ACC fuse to the Red wire comming off the radio. Would i need a fuse on the wire comming from the battery?
