Performer RPM hood clearance

Will an Edelbrock Performer RPM with a QJet sitting on top clear my stock hood?

It should. I have the Performer RPM with an Edelbrock carb, 1" air cleaner spacer, 1/2" carb spacer, and 2 1/4" air cleaner and it clears my stock hood but only by a hair.

Not if yours is like mine. i barelly make it with a moroso air cleaner, BUT I HAVE A TWO INCH COWL HOOD. The edelbrock air cleaner sits ALOT lower than the moroso one though, but the performer RPM is a very high intake for a stock hood.

Doubt it. My performer Intake, Qjet, and L69 air cleaner rubbed the insulation

Performer RPM

I have a performer RPM on my 406 with a drop-base air cleaner and a 1 1/2" filter (dinky) and it fits fine. If you get one, I'd invest in a cowl hood, too, so you can get a decent size air filter on it. After all, what's the point of having a motor you need a Performer RPM on if you have to choke it with a 1 1/2" air cleaner?? Good luck!!

Works fine for me. RPM intake with a holley on top. I cheaped out and got a Summit drop-base air cleaner for $17.95. Part #SUM-G3000, if you're interested.

Hmmm...

Does anyone know the difference in height between the two? I've got about 3/4" clearance without the insulation. I really don't want to run a regular Performer with the heads and cam I will be installing early summer.

It will fit but you'd want to use the RPM intake with the Qjet flange so an adapter won't be nessessary. You'll also want to use a drop base aircleaner witha 3" filter. Not all drop base
aircleaners are created equal. I use an origional GM '68/72
"Z28/ L88 drop base air cleaner and 3" filter with room to spare with a Performer RPM and holley carb on my '88 bird. This aircleaner will fit a Qjet too.
Hope this helps

The victor JR (2975) is 4.58"at the center of the carb flange.

The Performer rpm (7101) a)4.20" b)5.25" total avrage is 4.725" at the center of the carb flange

This info is coming from the edelbrock catalog.

That means you will have an extra .145" to play with

Needless to say I am going with the victor Jr.
