Megasquirt thirdgen lives.

Well I've finally got my 91 bird back up and running with a megasquirt efi controller. It's a MS1 V3.0 w/MSnS-extra code 2.29q I'm using it to control the factory computer controlled ignition, the injection, the fans, and have a few more mods to do for it to control the lockup converter, nitrous activation, shift light, and knock sensor. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress. I've got it running right now but it still needs alot of tuning which will come as time allows. by the way I've got a 383 with as&m semi siamese runners accel base 30lb injectors and afr 195 heads.

I want to just say that getting that all of that done is really cool. I wish I had the time to start building the MS.

How did you tie into the stock wiring harness? Did you just splice wires? Did you totally eliminate the stock ECM or is it still in there?

I've been thinking hard about the MS system for my TPI but I want to know what I'm getting into first. Congrats though on your setup let us know how tuning goes.

well I just spliced the wires from the factory ecm connectors into the megasquirt connector. It is working pretty well but I have had a couple of problems that I have been dealing with. The tuning is coming along nicely.

I didn't think the V3.0 boards and MS1 have enough outputs to control all that stuff. Does the latest MS1 code include coolant fan(s) control, lockup conv. control, nitrous control, shift light, knock sensor? Or is that all stuff you are coding yourself?

Thats the plan! I was doing extensive reading last night, looks like you can use the fast idle output to control the lockup without any difficulty at all. How does our engine decide the transmission is in 3-4. IF there is a 3-4 switch, I will use it to make the lockup work. The megasquirt only has the ability to lockup the transmission based on engine MAP, not speed, So i will need a 3-4 override switch of some kind.
