5.3L from silverado quandry
Would a 5.3L from a 2000 silverado mount up to 350 SBC mounts. I can pick it up in running order and only for $850 from a scarp yard here in town, and if it would bolt up to my engine mounts and th-350 it'd be cheaper then a rebuild, plus it only has 36k miles on it. Thanks for the help.

Kevosiroc is correct
its the same as an LS1 swap.. you need the new motor mounts, tranny mount, gas lines, radiator hoses, throttle cable PCM,
then you need a way to splice that harness to your cars body harness for the lights, ignition, gauges, ect.
basically you're doing an LS1 swap.. i would check the clearance of that intake VS your hood. there was a guy on here who was doing this swap and said the truck intake was too tall..
if i were you.. i would get that motor, swap the cam to an LS1, and change the intake to an LS6.. but thats me.

Do a search. This issue has come up before. GM has an instruction book on swapping that engine into a variety of applications, including templates for motor mounts. The book is short (IIRC, 36 pages) and expensive (again, IIRC, around $40 or $50), but probably worth the money.
The truck intake is tall, but a magazine did a test awhile ago (I don't recall which mag) and for making power, that truck intake can't be beat.

it is identical to an ls1 swap the block is the same as motor mounts and such. as far as the intake goes the truck intake is to tall for a regular 3rd gen hood. it would work with a cowel hood, but to make things easier just get and ls1 or ls6 intake on ebay, they are pretty cheap there usually.
if you get guttsy then change the crank (possible the connecting rods) to an ls1 crank and the computer to 4th gen computer and you have a non aluminum ls1 everything else internally is identical from ingectors to bore. (i know the newer trucks even have a simillar cam ut i do not know about the 2000 trucks) The only diffrence between the 4.8, 5.3, and the new 5.7 is the stroke the bore is the same.

TH350 hit some luck
i found through the ls1 sticky that GM makes a flexplate, bolts, and spacers specifically made so you can bolt the LS1 to a th350
also, vegatabul said in a PM that the bolt pattern was the same except tat the 2 o'clock hole isnt tapped. does that mean that i dont need a bolt therre or that i have to tap it and then bolt there also.

Where is this GM book available? I think it would make interesting reading.

also found out that mount plates that bolt to the block would enable me to use the standard sbc mounts, common knowledge to some but cool as hell to me.
also found a 1 ton van form 2002 for $1600. it has a 6.0, 4l60e, and 12 bolt rear end, btu not dualie, i guess thats rare. Ill let you guys know if i land it. if i get a parts car ill use its gauges, ignition, relay box, anything i can take form it. sounds like a good buy as long as the engine's strong, and i could sell the 4l60e and rear for a good chunk i think. lets hope its not crap

I copied this info from the LS1 swap sticky.
There are a couple of publications that you may want to check out. GM has a booklet entitled, "LS1 Engine Kit Installation Guide." Yes, GM does sell an LS1 kit (p/n 25534322).The p/n on my booklet is 88959384. At 36 pages, with a list price of $50.00 I have a hard time recommending it, but it is helpful.
IIRC the booklet has a template for engine mounts (if you need them). Expensive, but loaded with great info.
