BBC + Blower Shop 10-71 --> Pro touring
Hi everyone,
i've recently built a 455 BBC + 10-71 blower that was intended for drag racing.
As we are now waiting for years for a track in my country but nothing is coming (it seems politicals reasons wont allowed us having such a place for a long time) I changed my goals to use this engine in a 1986 Camaro i have and try to make some kind of pro-touring car with it.
Right now, i have :
- the engine running on an engine stand,
- a Stage 4 TH-400 on the way from Jacks Performance
- finalizing an order with Strange for an S60 complete rear end.
About the Chassis, I'm also on an order for a Sphon K-Member + A-arms, UMI TA, LCA , sways bars, subframe connectors, 350 front springs, 8 points cage, Z06 front brakes, ...
I have some questions :
1) someone has done a roots + BBC swap here and have pics ?
2) can i use my 1996 Camaro Torq thrust M wheels on this body ? (17x11.5 rear and 17x9 front) ?
3) suggestions about suspensions components ?
I will post pics of engine when i figure how to put pics in a thread

Nice engine! Also love the sound a nice roots bbc makes , instant torque.
There is a member here with a blown bbc in a thirdgen goes by the name "motor city mike"
He hasn't posted here for awhile. There is another member here with nice show blown sbc can't recall the name .
Yeah I would upgrade the suspension and chassis otherwise you twist your car like a pretzel. Subframe connectors at least!

hello guys.
I was hoping to get some informations about men with a blown BBC in a 3rd gen as i have many questions before starting the chassis work.
I'm already putting big money in the current orders, so i don't want to make too many mistakes.
Also, if you have pics of 3rd gen with roots blower so i can see what should be the final appearance

I'll go out on a limb and say bending corners with a 10-71 in the way is dangerous. Not to meantion the extra 150lbs you hung over the nose. Thats not counting the BB's weight. It will be wicked no doubt. Corner carver I just can't see. I'm not sure what country or county? It sucks either way. I don't have a local strip anymore. They were unsafe then a guy died and that ended the 1/4 fun. The track had a whoop in the left lane something terrible. Plus there was a big bush on that hump. cars would trim it from time to time. Then the guy who died tried to run in the 8's there, the shut down was harry for a mid 10 sec car. So now its a 2 hour drive but still worth it.

Nomad : don't worry. I've no goals of real performance handling of the car. if i wanted it, i would have done something completely different.
In fact, i've already my 96 Camaro which is far than enough with his 550 hp engine + 200 n2o for my street use but .... the fact is I wanted to build a car with a BBC and with a roots blower. I was hoping to use it on a 1/4 track but this track is taking years to come here so i want to use my engine in a street car that can have the better handling possible.
I just can't make all my life watching this engine running on his stand ...

x2 on looking at all flrtin1 posts n pictures etc..
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/powe...ade-since.html
looks n sounds like you have a nice build. for your 96 rims to fit the 3rdGen you will need wheel adapters.
More info on your 96 also. PM me since this is a 3rdgen site.

Then stuff in the car and drive it until either a track opens up or someone mistakes it for a Prostreet car from the 80's and bets cash on a street race. Blow there doors off and spend the money bribing your local politicians for a track.

I will simply keep the money for making an amazing car. Polticians don't need me to make money by themselvs and until now, i don't have seen so much that has been helpful to me.

Re: BBC + Blower Shop 10-71 --> Pro touring
Just wondering. But why the 10-71? Seems a lil overkill for street (assuming your running pump gas). Most guys can't push a 8-71 on the street on a street setup bb.

Re: BBC + Blower Shop 10-71 --> Pro touring
Hi GTA Shief. I originaly had high goals for this engine. The 10-71 or AFR heads, etc .. was supposed to go on a bigger engine in the future. I didn't want to have to change the complete engine if i wanted more after. I realized with my actual Camaro that sometimes you don't know at the beginning how far you want to go with an engine. For more the 10-71 choice was because i wanted to stay on pump gas and don't have to heat the intake flow with a too much overdrive blower.
It is a street engine but ... who know ? there can be races sometimes in the future too in my little country. Because of that, the answer to your question is : " i chose a 10-71 just because ... maybe someday i will need it"

my god, ditch the carb and just hire a guy with a 5-gallon bucket to pour the gasoline into it. No need a funnel, it wont matter that thing will suck the fuel right out of the air. ^^ wicked
