IIRC the s10 clutch master has a threaded line fitting, but not 100% certain. Also the push rod is much longer. I believe you could only have a manual trans with the 4 cyl or 2.8 v6 versions(again...

the black box that you have is for the 4th gen setup. 3rd gens use a white box(attached to the pedal frame) with a plastic rod that is connected to the pedal.

check to see if the bolts that hold the shifter to the trans have come loose or are gone altogether. A loose shifter will cause what you are describing

Sounds like the pilot bushing is starting to drag on the input shaft after it heats up. That would be a cause for those symptoms that you have.

I'm not sure about the FI cars but, I believe the carb cars did not have the single wire connector for the ECT. You would check base timing by disconnecting the 4 pin connector at the distributor....

a lot of t5's are this way. there are no synchros on reverse. you put it in a forward gear to stop everything from spinning so it can go into reverse without grinding.

Don't forget to check the WP. In the pic, it looks like there is a coolant trail coming from the weep hole. It wouldn't hurt to change the hoses if you end up replacing the WP.

the mustang shifter "handle" is nearly a perfect fit in these cars. I have a pro 5.0 shifter on an older TKO with a mustang short handle. works great
