LT1 cam and rockers

I am getting a cam and 1.5 rockers from a 1997 Camaro.
1) Will these rockers work?
2) How much will they help?
3) What are the stock size rockers on my L03?
4) What if any modifications do I have to do to fit this cam in place of my current one?

Same shet. No advantage but wear and miles. Stock are stamped 1.5s as well. Roller 1.5 or 1.6 would be an advantage. Cheapest self aligning 1.6 rollers I've seen are $191.

the rockers will be the same. working with a full roller type rocker woudl be a good idea by reducing soem frictional loses in the valve train but it is not necessary if you don't wanna spend the $$$. 1.6 rockers will increase the lift of the cam but they will put the valves a long way into the holes, soi you woudl be looking at a major reduction in vacuum which can make the ecm unhappy.
you will not need to change anythign to use the 1.5 rockers. if you decide on 1.6 rockers you may need to change to aftermarket valve covers sinc esome brands do not clear the stockers.

hope this helps.

I think he was asking about the cam, rather than the rocker.
To answer your question, no there's nothing major that has to be changed, except there's a dowel pin on the end of the cam (I believe for the water pump) that needs to be ground down, so it doesn't interfere with the timing cover. Pretty straight forward.

Yes I was refering to the Cam.
That is it, even though the LT1 uses a opti instead of a distributer?

you have to grind down or pull out the pin on the front of the cam if its still there.

this is a sometimes yes sometimes no thing. it sems the cams from the earlier LT1 years have an extra long dowel pin that would need to be cut down, but my cam from a '97 T/A had a normal hydraulic roller sized dowel. i know they changed the optispark in '95, that may eb the difference, not sure though.

Dont use 1.6 roller rockers with an LT1 cam on stock heads. The lift will be too great and the springs will coil bind, or hit the valve guides. Stick with 1.5's.

The LT4 cam had a longer pin that I pressed in far enough to work. (If you came up with one of those cams)

I've heard that even 1.5's with and an LT1 cam with bind. I'd look further into new springs as well.

I think that new springs are a plus, but the LT4 cam that I just installed does not bind. The cam change is a good mod.

I did forget to mention that unless you are planning to change heads or your valve seals don't leak this is a perfect time to change the seals when you change the springs.

Because it works great. I did it too and instead of falling down at 3600 it now keeps pulling to 4000+. Just do it and you will a

Dyno Don has said it all. It will pull eazy to 6000 in 1st and 2nd gear. I normally shift at 5500. This with the stock intake and heads. I want to install a Performer RPM intake just to see what can be gotten out of the stock heads and then maybe some 081's or Vortec's. Try it you'll like it. The grease wash's off your hand's. LOL
