need a prom chip
Thought i had a problem with the starter doing the click thing w/ no start half of the time so i finally bought a vats ket , the car starts on the first try 90% of the time instead of 20% of the time not to mention sometimes the car will start up and stall out like three times before it will stay running , like its getting enough fuel to start up but then not enough to keep running i am almost sure it has something to do wuth the chip not allowing the injectors to feed the car the fuel.......Who burns the best chips ??? No one in my area knows jack about these cars and so far after $400.00 i am still looking to find a good chip...any suggestions?

moates.net, just buy the stuff to burn, a g1 adaptor, and some blanks. then go to town.

Sounds like you have some other problem, not the chip, you will have to go over all of the basics to diagnose it.

Suppose I burned you a chip and the car had the same problems. Would you complain that my chip must be bad?

did you adjust your tps correctly? how about check your fuel filter? had that same problem already, couple of bux fixed it up. could even be your fuel pump going bad. did you replace the injectors with the same sized injectors? just some ideas to help, good luck.

Reading this, sounds like he checked most everything. There is a few remaining things to check, but I'd try a new memcal now. Or an ECM.
Funny, this sounds much like a Tojan my cousin was working on a few months ago (at an engine shop). Customer came in with the car, said the engine was dead. The shop told the customer the engine was fine, it was the management system. Customer demanded a new engine, shop said "fine your paying for it".
Replaced engine, car still ran rough, idled weird, stalled sometimes.
Mechanics checked everything. Then the called me up. Went down with my memcal adapter and a fresh burned stock chip. Verrified it cured the problem, and had them order a new memcal from GM.
Out the door and a happy customer.

sounds like you will need a new "custom" chip. the last time i checked the 350 tpi's ran 21 lb injectors not 23. your dumping more fuel than stock and the ecm thinks its still the same. and accel, well if you look around you will not hear to many good things about accel injectors. what is your fuel pressure set at? turning it up may help a little, but not much.

the pressure does alter itself just not at a standing point. your idle and wot settings will be different. did you disconnect your vac line before you set it? it could have something to do with the larger injectors, which would still mean you need a custom chip.

An intermittent problem is very very fustrating and very difficult to diagnos (sp).
Also, Memcals going bad is a remote occurance, I doubt very much its the chip.
I have read several scary stories about Accel fuel injectors, these things could be your problem,,, but how to prove it?
What is your fuel pressure? It would be good to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and tape it the the window wiper so that you can see it from the drivers seat.
I would start with the basics,
1) remove & clean the IAC valve,,,
2) remove and check (clean) regap spark plugs,
3) set the static timing to 8* (be sure to disconnect the EST wire when doing this),,,
4) complete the minimum air routine, but set the idle RPM at 650, not the 450 as called for in the procedure,,
5) then reset the TPS voltage at 0.60 to 0.64...
Take care of these basics to start with,,, it will cost you time only
provided that you have the right equipment and tools.

Sorry I can't help you further but I think we've determined that your ecm and memcal are working properly.

I would swap out the ECM and memcal liek mentioned before. do the ECM first and if it still has problems put the old ecm back in and get a new memcal.
Also, check all your grounds and power wires.
I am not sure if the problem I had with my stock chip is common, but my stock chip wouldn't turn on my fans. I happened to burn myself a chip when I converted to a manual tranny and the fans started to work.
