Hatch alignment and pull down
I replaced my hatch some time ago and have just realized that it was grossly misaligned. So I took the Struts apart and got it straight. Got the dirt out of the tracks and stopped thee water from running into the trunk area. Went to put the hatch back down and noticed the pull down latch mechanism would not catch. Upon further inspection i see there is a ton of play in the tracks that the latch system rides in. In particular the drivers side. So much so that the latch flops and leans toward the front of the car (toward the front of car). I adjusted with my hand leaning it towards the license plate like it's supposed to be and voila. How can I tighten THE TRACKS that the latch system rides in to keep that latch STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN????? Every time all the time. Once aligned it works great..

I think this is what you need, https://www.top-downsolutions.com/ha...ro-or-firebird) and look at Lon's rear hatch parts, it sounds to me like you need new guides.

Re: Hatch alignment and pull down
I ended up ordering the deluxe kit from top down Solutions got everything put back together. got everything lubricated put the assembly back on the car. the striker on my hatch is now aligned perfectly it hits the latch dead center like it's supposed to. my hatch light turns off. my release switch unlocks the latch, with the key, and with the switch but the motor will not turn on and go down or go back up. and that's with the relay reattached both the black ground wires the small ones reattached. although I got some arching from the really small ground wire I don't know where it goes to but when I connected it to the body I got a little bit of arching. I attached the two wires that I had to unplug one is black and orange going to White the other is red and white going to Blue my unlocked solenoid for the hatch release switch works perfectly I have a big ground wire going from the hatch release solenoid to the actual body right up underneath the latch assembly and I have my wiring harness hooked back up to the motor and the motor plugged back in. I don't know what that is but I guess it's a computer board that attaches directly to the motor has a screw that keeps it in place. there are no fuses blown. I can't figure out why the hatch won't move up and down
