The C4 HDs are about the biggest you can fit inside those wheels, the C5s won't fit and I recommend the HDs over the LS1s. You could piece together a setup like Dean did and use 6 piston Wilwoods but assuming you're on a budget, the HDs are about the best thing for 16"s IMO. If you have a bit more money, look into the Wilwood big brake kit from Spohn or something along that line.

I custom built these to do that exact thing- Fill up as much space as possible underneath the factory IROC 16" rims. I run IROC "Rears" on the front also (rears pn all 4 corners) so you will see a hubcentric custom machined wheel spacer attached to the assembly pictured below to offset the rear rim enough on the front so that the caliper will not rub the rim spokes.
Do a search under RTFC and Vsixtoy under this brake board and you will find the documented build with all the specs you need to copy it.

With wheels on. Again they are in fact factory 16" IROCS with 245/50-16 tires
Rotors are 12.90 X 1.25 (I can shim the radial mount caliper outward if I ever want and still fit a heavier duty 13.06 x 1.25 GT roadracing rotor.
Calipers are 6 piston radial mount SL-6's with the narrow outward body.

thanks i was looking more into the C4 HD's. i dont want to spend lots of money on this, but just something to get better braking that also looks good.
*edit*
i just did some searching for c4hd upgrade but i cant seem to find a complete list of what i need.. i know i need the calipers and 13" rotors. prolly a mastercylinder too.. but what else and what mods need to be done?

If you want mean brakes for a reasonable price, save youself headaches and just get the C4 HD kit from Ebmiller88. He is great to deal with, provides a great product, and his price is only beatable if you already have parts laying around, or if you want to go through the headache of piecing every little part you need together, and even then you will still need hubs and caliper brackets. I got my parts from Ed and am very happy but I feel like a buttcrack because i havent sent him my old spindles yet! man i am a looser! anyway, here is a pic of my setup, no fancy paint for me i was trying to hide this setup from most people but it hasnt worked, people somehow spot these huge brakes a mile away, especially other thirdgen guys.

yea, i want to upgrade to the HDs, and im going to get them from him, but everytime i get the cash in hand, i end up spending it on a "once in a lifetime deal" for some other parts... lol
i really need them too... stock brakes suck.

No problem on the spindles Jeremy, whenever you can get them out to me. I just bought 4 sets so I'm OK for now.

Ed...
How are you on spindles? The Formula lost 3rd and 4th so I can rip off the old ones while the cars sits if need be. And yes, I drove it on the nasty pads and dying stock brakes until the trans died. lol
Let me know, here or PM. Thanks Ed.
