Alpine CDA-7894

I been working on my car alot these days for a summer vacation I'm taking to Galveston, TX. I want to install the Alpine CDA-7894 headunit for the long drive. I figure with the cd, mp3, and ps2 playing dvd's through the aux input that the trip should go by pretty quick. Anyone have this unit and what do they think? And where is the best place to buy it?

Just keep in mind that Alpine does not authorize any online sales, and if the thing takes a crap on you, you're going to be screwed if the retailer went out of business (like most online places do) or decides that they don't remember who you are.

Wow. I didn't know. I noticed that there wasn't many online vendors selling apline hu. Even crutchfield, not that I would buy from them, lacks apline hu right now. I guess the 70 extra bucks I was quoted at Circuit City ($379.99) is worth it. At least I would have somebody to go after. Thanks for the Info.

Give the Stereo Shop in Rochester NY a call and see how much they're asking and whether they'll ship. I used to work there and their Alpine prices were usually a lot lower than Circuit City.

I gave the Stereo Shop a call. 399.99 and he doesn't have them stock. Thanks for the information anyway. It's just hard to find any cool stuff here in Oklahoma. I had to go through 4 diffrent car dealers just to get speedo gears for my new 3.42 rear end. The lack of products here in OK can get real frustating. Off my soapbox now.

Actually Crutchfield is now carrying the full line of Alpine electronics. There prices are no bargain, but if authorized, could still save you the cost of tax and you'll get a free install kit. The service is realy good too, especially for a mail order store.

I'm surprised. We had CC beat by between $50 and $100 on every single Alpine head unit last year.

Well guys. I have to thank all of you for your responses. However, I found a local dealer here that matched the etronics.com price. He even had it in stock. I guess i'll have take back my statements about not finding anything in OK. I'll be installing it tomorrow night. I'll let you know how everything works out. Now, if I can just figure out where to put that PS2 in this car. Anybody have pics of a ps2 in a thirdgen?
