securing my box???

I am going to put my box with 2 12s up right behind the seat(not in the well). How will I mount it? I cant screw it because the gas tank. I have seen people use bungie cords but that looks like s**t. Would alot of velcro work? I am open for any suggestions. Thanks

seems that using lots of velcro is your only option.
I installed my box in the same place(I have a hardtop too), only that mine is much smaller.

How many times do we have to visit this topic? Since audio seems to be clouding the issue here, lets use another example. How safe would you feel driving your car everyday with a 50 pound boulder on the package shelf, aimed right at the back of your head held down by nothing more than velcro or bungie straps? Now imagine the horrible moment of having to brake hard, or, *** forbid, hitting a solid object at 50 MPH. Even though you and the car have stopped, that box will rip right off those velcro hold downs, and launch right at your head. Now imagine that same box hitting you at the slow speed of even 20 MPH, and how much that would hurt, and you should start to get the idea—DON"T DO IT!!!

I know this sounds a little severe, but the idea of mounting a heavy sub box on the package shelf with nothing more than velcro is madly dangerous. Good sound is not worth losing your life for. There are ways to mount boxes on the package shelf, but they involve some work and ingenuity. Find a competent installer, and they will be able to point you in the right direction.

It can be screwed down from both sides. The gas tank doesn't extend all the way across the car. There's room on each side (about 3/4") to get a metal plate and screw it into the sheetmetal. I did it with my current box. Just get a flat piece of metal with screw holes in it (like half of a door hinge). Screw one side into your box from underneath, then screw the other half into the sheetmetal from on top. It works like a charm, and if you're careful you can get the bracket to fit underneath your trim panels so you can't even tell it's there!

REZN8R,
So you are saying screw on piece of metal on each side before I put the box together? I dont see how you would screw it on. Would I have to screw the base of it on before I put the top on? I really dont understand how to do what you are saying.
Thanks

Let's try a picture:

This would be viewing the box from the back. The finished speaker box is on the upper left. Then you have the metal piece and the screws.
