I Need Help With A New Headunit FAST

I Bought A new pioneer DEH P9600MP headunit and when i hooked it up(hardwired everything) it only is getting power when the ignition is on. So basically im looking for what wire on this deck needs to get 12v all the time. Its a pain to keep resetting everything whenever i get back into my car.

AnyHelp Would Be Much Appreciated

Thanks,

If you bought a wiring harness instead of hacking your factory wiring, you wouldn't have this problem. If somebody else was the dummy that hacked up the car's wiring, then you're forgiven.

If you did a search, you would have quickly found your answer. This has been asked a lot.

Anyway, you're looking for an orange wire that's in a separate 2 pin harness plug, usually over on the right hand side of the radio hole.

Are you certain you didn't accidentally use the brown wire? Did you check the wires with an meter?

Yellow-12v switched (acc)*
Orange-12v constant
Brown- Dimmer/Illumination*
Pink- Power antenna (optional)
Dk blue- Right rear +
Light blue- right rear-
Brown- Left rear +*
Yellow- Left rear -*
Dk green- Front right -
Light green- Front right +
Tan- Front left +
Gray- Front left -

*If no harness is present you will have to meter/testlight these wires to verify them. If harness IS present, Front speakers and power wires are in thier respective harnesses. Double check for safety if it is your first time.
Smaller gauge green and gray wires can be found in some GM cars as well. These are for steering wheel controls

Try taking the HUs ground straight to the chassis.

Even though it's hacked, you should be able to get it to work. Do you have a DMM (Digital Multi Meter)? If not, now is the time to get one and learn how it works and the right way to use it, we'll help.
I'd still get the harness, but I'd get two. One is the harness that every one gets to install there HU. The other is called a 'revers harness'. It's a replacement for the one that SHOULD have been in the car. This one will put you more or less back to stock. Then just wire up up the other harness to the HUs harness and you're golden.
But Like I said, it should work. If you don't have a DMM get one so you can check the wires as you go.
