Re: Amp and Sub box?..
i started off with the 2x10" schematic that's floating around the car audio section here and went from there. I only built the lower section and then carefully measured and built out the sub side. here's a better shot of the box layout without the top to give you a better idea. Unfortunately, the box is long gone, so I can't get any new measurements.

Maybe doesn't work so well if your looking for a ton of widow-shattering neighbor-waking please arrest me thump ...
But I just made the 'cover' - installed a 10 (2 12's would have easily fit - I used 12" speaker grills), and it rests on the little 'shelfs' on each side of the rear. In the end, it looks just like that above - I just mounted my amp under the board instead of on top for a nice clean look. It's just 3/4 mdf cut to fit in the rear and rests on the shelfs back there. Under I have plenty of room for my power inverter, small tool bag, jumper cables, and the wife's purse gets hidden under at the carshows/cruise-ins.

I've got one similar to the one Dan has pictured. It's custom made from MDF and fiberglass and loosely based on the dimensions of the diagram in the stickies. It also has a carpeted cover made from expanded metal to conceal and protect the amp and sub.

Re: Amp and Sub box?..
Wow guys! Nice boxes! looking great!
Me and my dad built mine from old wood we had sitting in the garage. Just made some measurements and did some pretty smooth cutting. Then we used a utility rug with rubber on the bottom for the carpet on the box. We stick it to the box with 3M adhesive. It sounds great so far! i only got one sub in it at the moment, But it still shakes the car with just a little MTX. And the rubber prevents any rattling or anything, like Dynomat would. Heres some pics:

Here's a link to the write up I did when I built my box, its made from 3/4" MDF, houses two 12 inchers and slants towards the front of the car.

Re: Amp and Sub box?..
The whole housing of the amp is fashioned into a heat sink for the power transistors to mount to. When they heat up, that heat is absorbed by the aluminum of the cover and dissipated into the air by the fins in the cover. Granted, it would work better if I had some air circulation with a fan

Re: Amp and Sub box?..
I mounted mine in the spare tire area and i actually think that keeps it cooler than if it were in the car. I did remove the spare though and mounted it on an mdf panel using the threaded holes where the jack and everything screws in.

Re: Amp and Sub box?..
You can buy a box off of eBay like this one for about 50 dollars, it was 30 dollars for shipping to IL so 80 and you go yourself one of these. This is just a pic of the subs just dropped in i have to install it yet and the amp is not going on the box due to vibrations. I'm in Afghan so that's stalling me and my little bro took the pics and placed the amp there.

Re: Amp and Sub box?..
Its a Rockford Fosgate Punch P400-1. Its a mono amp 400w and its tiny, only 9"x7.5" so smaller than a sheet of paper. The box just drops in and you even have some space under it in the hole to put things, works for me. The box stops like right by the ledge if you can see it in the pic. Each chamber is 1.56 Cu.ft. so just have to make sure your sub doesn't need more and the Word attachment has a picture of it with all the dimensions.
