Bigger Dash Speakers Help
What size speakers are you running under your dash pad?? I recently replaced my bash pad and saw the previous owner put 3" round speakers. They're pretty bad haha, only like 30 watts I think.
Also what did you have to do to put/mount bigger speakers?

Re: Bigger Dash Speakers Help
Yeah I put 4x6 infinity kappas there pretty good for that size. Is ur car a Camaro or a firebird cause I know the firebird drivers side mount for the speakers is alot smaller than the passanger which leads to trouble when trying to put it in cause the magnet won't fit. I managed to put in at an angle so went in with little force and the dash pad itself helps hold the speaker so even if it pops up alot the dash pad will hide if you have those speaker grills. Any of ther aftermarket 4x6 will sound better than the stock ones

I have a 91 Camaro.
Couple people said the 4x6 speakers after markets aren't really worth getting. So I wasn't sure if I could put like 4"-5.5" speakers.

Re: Bigger Dash Speakers Help
There are many 4x6 aftermarket speakers that are worth getting.
But that depends on what you want. Do you just want to improve the sound and maybe the output, or do you want recording studio quality with concert level output, or somewhere in between?

Well I want good sound quality, but I don't wanna spend tons of money on speakers right now. I was just trying to get an idea of what I could do about them. I've also read earlier today, that you can put 5 1/4". That'd be sick of I could! But I would have to trim down on the area around the 4x6 areas, that's all I'm concerned about with that as I don't want to mess it up.

I put 5.25 inch speakers in the dash of my Trans Am, just some cheap pioneers and they sound great! All I did was a take a leather man utility knife with the saw on it to trim the diver side enough for the magnet to slide in. Sounds great!!

I would guess 5-1/4 and I would guess that's a camaro, I know my TA and formula don't look anything like that...

I hear the later years are tighter due to AC ducts, etc...
Some people said they used heat gun to soften then some and bend them slightly...
Also a shallow mount speaker would benefit...
It's tough, being that the rear sail panel speaker is just inches from your ear... I'm putting a 4 in the dash and a 6.5 in door / kick + the rear sail panel... I'll have it mostly faded to the front 4 speakers, but have em all full blast when the T-tops are off and the cops are chasing me

Re: Bigger Dash Speakers Help
Also know some of the 4x6s do not fit in the dash without a bracket (spacers to lift them up 1/2" or so). My old Alpines came with spacers, but when I bought Memphis 4x6s no spacers were included and they didn't fit. I reused my old spacers off the Alpines.

I don't really want to take out the defrost tubing. Do y'all know what is the deepest speaker you can have under there?

Re: Bigger Dash Speakers Help
For my old 87 TA, I picked up a set of JBL GTO 6 x4 only to find out the magnet was too big on the driver side. I ended up fabing a plate and fitted Pioneer tweets and Aura 3" mids.
