needs bass
Hey Gang, I need some ideas on getting more bass. I have a kenwood deck with ipod and 10 disc changer in the trunk. I got infinity kappa 4x6 plates in the dash, 5 inch infinity kappas in factory bose kick panel boxes and infinity kappa 6.5s in the rear side panels. Got plenty of power with a big 4 channel kenwood amp. I was thinking about an infinity basslink to set in the back seat or something. Audio is not my specialty so if anyone has done something that works great please let me know. My system sounds awesome except for it needs more bass. Thanks in advance.

Re: needs bass
I have a Bazooka tube and it works awesome, tops on or off. I have a little 200 watt Fosgate amp bridged and a bass level controller in the ash tray. The Bazooka tube is 10" and the bass is nice and tight and will rattle your teeth before it gives out on you. The cost of it was $100 on CL and its 20 years old but it plays like new.. highly recommend. Stone

Re: needs bass
8" sub (ported) in a small box in the rear well should do the trick.

Hey Stonehenge do you have pics of what you did including the ashtray controler and amp and where you placed all of it.

Re: needs bass
I would go with a single 10-12" subwoofer in the trunk. That should definitely
provide the bass you are looking for.

Re: needs bass
In my 84 Camaro I ran a 10" tube with a walmart brand sub in the well and a Class D 1000Watt Amp mounted on top of the well. It worked great, actually got second place in a stereo competition (Lost to an Explorer that actually threw the machine out of calibration). You don't need much for these cars.
The sub was cheap enough I didn't care if I blew it.

Re: needs bass
I'm a BIG fan of JBL GTO or Pioneer Premier subs. usually a 10" is just over $100.00.
You don't need to go expensive to have good bass...although the 12" ID MAX hits like a ****

Re: needs bass
I did pretty much the same thing as Stonehenge & Veaceonee, I got a 10" bazooka tube with a blown kicker in it from a guy I did some work for, threw a walmart special sony in it, ran it like that off a cheap amp in my MCSS for a few years, then swapped the tube & sub over to my RS when I bought it & added a RF 200.2 to power it. The tube fit perfectly in the well, and I mounted the amp on the little step on the passenger side of the well. It wasn't competition level by any means, but for everyday listening it was great.
