If that is all you did, it would be a waste. If your v6 can't benefit from the additional air flow a 4 barrel carb will provide it won't help--it may even hurt. If you have a modified v6 that revs really high and can benefit from the added air flow, then sure it will help.
It's all about the combination, not one or two parts of the combination.

no just buy the carb and then put a 350 in then put the carb on.

I WOULD RATHER PUSH A CAMARO THAN DRIVE AN IMPORT

1983Z28 350w/ edelbrock performer RPM power package with 64cc aluminum heads, dynomax shorty headers, 700R-4 with shift kit, 750cfm carb, edelbrock 3" exhaust system, ASCD SS hood, 16" IROC rims.

future mods:
completely done over suspension, black paint with flames, Hurst shifter, dakota digital gauge package, procharger supercharger.

I actually looked back into this, way back when I still had a 2.8. Why?

Well, my 2bbl carb was SHOT, and for some reason (availability?) a rebuilt 2bbl carb cost about DOUBLE that of an E4ME qjet.

If you could get a 4bbl intake for a 60 deg V6 (2.8/3.1/3.4), you could make it work. Just be careful about which vacuum lines go where, and you'll have to come up with a way to bypass the EFE heated grid. Wouldn't be too bad actually.

Now, whether or not the secondaries would ACTUALLY open is another question entirely .

I'll make a deal with you guys!
If you can find a 4bb manifold for a 2.8, 3.1 or 3.4 I'll buy it and rip my FI out of my blazer in 5 minutes and give you all the info you would ever need on swap and setup.

It's a noticeable boost on the 3.8 and 4.3. On the 2.8, I don't know what the result would be.

I believe Edelbrock makes a 60 degree (2.8/3.1/3.4) four barrel intake and a 390 cfm Holley would work. Try going to s-series.org and get on the v6 message board, I know there's a few 3.4 Camaro swappers into former 2.8 trucks using a four barrel on there.

Re: 4 barrel carb on a v6....

This thread is almost old enough to order whiskey at the bar. It was ridiculous enough to begin with; but now, it deserves a n00b to come in a necro-resurrect it by posting something asinine and incoherent.
