Too good to be true?
You all know the old saying "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." I'm at one of those points. Thoughts on this?
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...-platinum.html
It strikes me as odd that for a nearly brand new set of heads, he's selling them for nearly half the retail cost. But his iTrader feedback shows 14 positives, and a join date of 2005.
At first, he asked to send money through PayPal as a gift, and that was a dealbreaker for me. So he said he would do the deal normally, with an invoice.
I've read through the PayPal ToU, and it appears that if he scams me, I'll be reimbursed, but I don't want to rely on that if it comes down to it. It's quite a bit of money, and naturally I'm a bit paranoid.
So what do you guys think? Too good to be true?

I doubt it's a scam, but if you wanted me to. I live pretty close to him, I could drive down and check them out for you. I was gonna go pick up some louver from him also.

I've known Steve to be a pretty stand-up guy. He's a fellow local thirdgen owner that I would not expect to rip off another thirdgen fan, or anyone else for that matter.
"Gifting'" a payment thru PayPal means they would not be taking any service charge to complete the $ transfer. Simply calling it "Merchandise" allows Paypal to charge a 4% transaction fee - about $25 - for the exact same transaction.

Re: Too good to be true?
An update to this: I decided to buy the heads thanks to feedback from a few members on here. He completely understood my defensive position about buying on the internet. I did not gift the money though, as I was aware of people being scammed that way. He said they should be shipped in the next few days or so, so I'll update then. Thanks all.

Glad you got them safely and are happy with them.
