Re: help with turn signel

Yes, sounds like a bad bulb. You can replace it easily, it's a standard dual filament bulb available at any car parts store (you should probably carry one or two in the trunk).

You can turn on a spellchecker in your browser, they help a lot.

Re: help with turn signel

Grab a test light, remove the lightbulb and test for 12V signal (interrupted) inside the socket with the turn signal on. If you don't get 12V inside the socket, follow the wires, it's the blue wire, not the brown one.

Let us know what you find.
Lou

P.S.: If the turn signal indicator in the dash doesn't flash and if even the front fender side marker doesn't flash, it could be the steering column switch. In that case you can check for 12V on the light blue wire on the flat multi-function switch connector on the bottom of the steering column.

Re: help with turn signel

Do not measure resistance, measure voltage with the turn signal on. Resistance measurement will not give you any good results because you are measuring a circuit with other bulbs connected with a drain to ground.
A test light is actually better than a digital voltmeter (instant) but if the meter is the only thing you have, you just have to watch it very closely for 12V pulses.

Re: help with turn signel

No voltage but your meter beeped when you were measuring continuity? That sure is strange.
Trace the blue wire and keep probing it until you find 12V on it (with the turn signal flashing).

Re: help with turn signel

Before diving into the whole steering column, I suggest removing the driver side knee panel and testing the flat multi-function switch connector.
With the left turn signal on, put a test light on the light blue wire to detect voltage. (dark blue is the right front, dark green is the right rear, yellow is the left rear).

THat will tell you for sure whether the switch is bad or not.

Re: help with turn signel

Alright, that sounds like a pretty good conclusion.
The switch normally costs $25 or so at a car parts store, usually readily available.
