i baught a 1990 camaro RS yesterday, it took us about 4 hours to load and unload it, i put a hot battery in it last night and tried to crank it up but the key wouldn't even spin over, i located the fuse box early this morning only to find that it doesn't have an ignition fuse, and a regular fuse won't go in the slot, so can anybody attatch a pic of a full fuse box it would be greatly appreciated... thanks TGO

Re: 1990 RS fuse box
There is no ignition fuse.

There are several slots for accessories - given to us by the factory for adding goodies. They all have just a single slot (where a fuse needs two slots). They are:

IGN - ignition - gets 12v+ only when key is on
RADIO - gets 12v+ when radio is on (ie when key is on, or when key in ACC position)
BAT - gets 12v+ all the time, regardless of the key.
LPS - gets 12v+ when the lights are on

These come in handy - use standard 1/4in male spade terminals and insert to tap them.

Now - to the starting ...

1) does the fuel pump prime when key is turned on?
2) Does the starter even click at all?
3) is the security light on the dash on when you try to crank car?
4) does the key have a chip (pellet) in it?

Look at thirdgen.org/vats to rwad up on VATS if the security light is on, or if key has no pellet in it.

You can test starter by applying 12v directly to the starter terminal that has the purple wire to it - use a 10ga jump wire off batt pos terminal. If starter turns, then you know starter is good, and probably need to look at the VATS issue.

Also look at these: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=10

And here you can see the fuse block - the single slots I described are the ones with a line through them (they do not take fuses):

Re: 1990 RS fuse box
after an hour of trying to spin the motor by hand with a huge breaker bar, we've come to the conclusion that the motor is locked up...

Re: 1990 RS fuse box
Did you remove a spark plug (or all of them)? Sometimes it's impossible to turn a motor by hand without removing plugs (compression pressure).

INFL REST refers to the air bag (Inflatable Restraint) - it should come on (maybe flash) BUT go off after startup (as with all the other dash lights). The "security light reads "SECURITY".

No headlight fuses on our Chevys. But there is a circuit breaker on the headlight switch (kinda inconvenient, I know, but hey, you bought a Chevy, deal with it :-D ).

Btw, next time feel free to start a new thread instead of resurrecting a dead one from the past.
