Well, my LT4 heads and Intake arrived. :)
Here are a few pics,

Going to have the valve seals replaced before I install the heads.
Maybe even get some port work done, depending on price.

Thanks,
I am going to take my time building this motor. I want it done right the first time, and since I am poor, I have no choice but to take my time.
I will find out tomorrow what it costs to get the heads done, hopefully it's not too much.

Hey zepher,
I just stumbled across your stuff here. I found the lt4 intake at SDPC and decided to do some research, and I'm wondering if you could help me out. My plan at the moment is a 383 with SS LTR's, SDPC intake base, vortec heads, and probably the Gen VII DFI. I know the numbers I can get from that, but now I'm curious, how would they compare to the same setup with an LT4 intake? And do you have to have lt4 heads to go with that intake or will it bolt to vortec heads? My end goal, which I could reach with the ltr setup is 300 rwhp, and at least knock on the door of 11's. I'm sure the little parts will add up quickly on either build up, but any idea as to whether the lt4 little parts are adding up quicker than the regular tpi? Thanks.

I have no idea if the LT4 intake will bolt to anything but LT4 heads or aftermarket heads modified for the LT4 intake.
the best person to ask is John Millican since he has been working with the LT1 intake for the Gen 1 small block heads.

Im in the process of a lt1 intake swap right now. I talked to john and did soem research. The lt4 intake will only work with lt4 heads or trick flow heads I believe. I guess the ports are different the done line up right on older heads.
Where can I get the rest of the parts that I would need to put this together? I can't seem to find things like the fuel rails and some of the other little things. I'm sure I can use a lot of standard parts on the block, but what about sensors and fittings of the lt4 intake?

Best bet is getting a complete used LT1 intake and buying the bare LT4 intake new and use the LT1 rail and TB. It's a little over $200 for a new LT4 intake. Complete LT4 heads run $1200/pair, my cost.
Thanks
That's what I needed to know. I wasn't for sure if the lt4 was just a worked over lt1, but I'm guessing part wise, that's what it is. I've read all the stuff about the real lt4 being redone from the block up, but I guess for my purposes I'll just take advantage of the intake mods. I'll probably start a new thread soon to try and dig out some more info/ideas for stroking an lt4.

Zepher your about 90% correct , except that corvette lt1 and lt4 engines have 4 bolt mains and a better nodular iron crank than the camaro or trans am lt1. so basically you have a lt1 w lt4 heads and intake which is the same combo im running. so if you want it to be like a production lt4 you need a lt4 longblock .also i read one of your posts when you first got your motor and you stated that you were going to clean it up and it would be in the car the next day being a little optimistic arent you?. ive had this combo running for 2 years and its not as easy as some people think good luck with your project and hope to see it running soon and maybe painted to. if you need any help with this swap e mail me and i will be glad to assist . Well, it's torn apart now, heads are in the shop. I should have the motor in the car in a month or two. Still need to find a tranny.
Going to the track to watch some imports, be back later.
