ok now that I dont plan on putting a V8 in right now I got a 3.4 in my grage. its got 71,000 miles on it and its from 1995. the engine has everything on it, like wiring harness injection power steering pump, everything. I also have the computer but I have no clue what to do with it. How do I make this engine work??? can I use the injection thats on it or do I have to use mine? What do I have to do to put this engine in this car ? Can I take all the wires off and put the ones that are already in the car on it? or do I have to put the wires that are on the engine in the car? OR do I have to use my old injection from the 2.8??? I have no clue. help please.

the easiest way is to just drop the long block in, dont worry about any wires or intake systems on the 3.4, just the longblock... heads and the shortblock lol use your existing 2.8 intake setup and accesories, you can try to sell the extra 3.4 intake and wires on ebay or something, but this tech article should be a g0d to you :-)

i have no idea how to settup the newer intake, but its not going to unrestrict that 3.4 much in my opinion, i dont know if the ignition on the 3.4 even uses a distributor, it might be an optispark settup or something, if you use your existing 2.8 intake there will be a hole in it for a distributor, just like the 2.8 was, and the gains you *might* get from the newer intake will be minimal, and youll be splicing cutting and driving yourself insane with wires for maybe 2 horsepower lol (no actual numbers, just using it as a principal) the added extra work isnt worth anything substantial in the end... the whole idea of making that 3.4 swap easy is that all you do is replace the longblock and leave the existing 2.8 intake, and be done with it, a simple swap thats worth it.
Ok, i did some reserch, and found out some stuff. You can use the intake off from the 2.8, with some work. I wouldnt recommend it, but its own personal taste i guess. I would rather take the time and use the 3.4 intake.

theres a problem.... the sensors on the new engine dont match up with the connectors on the old wiring harness and also there are different numbers of wires comming off the sensors as well so I can't just cut the old connector off and put the new one in its place. Also im still finding out that to actually convert to the new wiring harness is really hard since I cant seem to find a very good detaild diagram on the 2.8 and 3.8 because everything is for the V8's so im still trying to figure this thing out.

Ok I Put the 3.4 in the car without the tranny just to see if i could get it to start. well nothing, all it does is every once in a while it will shoot a little bule flame out the exaust. I had changed it to distributer after taking off the electronic ignition. and I am using my 2.8 intake and injectors and wiring harness. So i guess the problem might be timing or somthing with there not being a sensor that works with this 2.8 wiring harness or something. im pretty sure its actually making a spark but it wont run. so anyone who might know how to look for what the problem might be please help

I had found out when I pulled the distributer cap off that it wasnt set right for the timing. So I thought that I had messed it up when I was putting it together but,,,, I had fixed the timing and turned the engine over and it started then staled and I turned it again and had to keep giving it gas to keep it on. Then it stalled and I let it because I have nothing hooked up to it like exaust or water or anything so I dont want to burn it out. well I had tried to start it again and it wouldnt start. It was acting like it was before, so I pulled to distributer cap off again and the timing was off again. so I moved the wires to match it up with the correct spark and tried it again and the same thing keeps happning. what is wrong. does anyone know???
