Help Needed! Any experience with LT4 hot cam?

hey all,

I have a fast burn 385 crate engine in my car at this time. I am hinging on the 12's in the quarter and am looking for some extra power. I have been hearing that a huge upgrade for the 385 is the Hot Cam Kit (new cam, springs, retainers, rockers.. etc) Anyone have experience with the lt4 cam? Opinions welcome!

Joe

I have used the Lt4 hot cam on many engines combos and they all ran very well.. You plan on using a stroker and i would at that point suggest using a custom grind suggested by http://www.advancedinduction.com/

The Lt4 hot cam is not the cam for a stroker

Putting the LT4 HOT cam kit in the FastBurn 385 is a sure way to get to 420 hp. Ignore the clown who thinks you have a 385-cube stroker. Switch to an RPM AirGap Vortec and you'll be over 430 horses. To that clown, the 385 refers to the 385 hp rating.

not trying to hijack the thread but do you need a canister to hook the brake booster to if you use the LT4 Hot Cam in a Vortec 350? Or will it create enough vacuum to just hook it to the intake?

I was told 10-11 lbs of vacuum was enough to properly operate the power brakes. BTW hot cam kit was ordered and should be at my door tomorrow. Gentlemen on the phone at jegs said it will be an easy 435 hp. Im pretty pumped.

just remember that you will probably need to drive the timing gear dowl in alittle bit. They stick out further on the LT motors. Not hard to do.
