Collector gaskets copper or aluminum?
Which is a better collector gasket material, copper or aluminum? Which would you recommend? Why?
Thanks

I've used the copper with great results. I would imagine they both would accomplish the same thing. I would buy what you wanted.

Most race prep shops in the UK now use ally. Mine are all ally for the last 6 years. No problems. Softer so compresses and seals easier.
Tried copper a few times (and on my EGR gasket), and it worked OK but had one or two slight leaks. BUT, if johnsjj2 says they work, who am I to argue!!
One tip though. If you do use copper, when you have to reuse, heat them up with a torch to soften them up first.
Andy.

Never thought of heating them up. That is a great idea. I do know the ally ones are thicker, so in essence, they should seal better. Oh well, get what you like!!

I went and got some flowtech aluminum tonight they looked better then the mr. gasket copper, plus they were $1.50 cheaper with bolts.

I'm using the flowtechs too...by far the best gasket I've used thus far. It was in-stock at Oreilley's and came with bolts.

Thanks, but don't go by that picture! It is my car, but that is small. The bigger it is, the more you notice. The engine is out right now. After 1k miles, I don't like the piston slap of the Claimer pistons I used so I ripped it apart, and am getting all the parts I need now to put it back together. I also bought some Hooker shorties off ebay for $85. Bad part now is, I spent 2 months building the exhaust I wanted. Now it won't fit the Hookers, so I have to rebuild the whole thing. Oh well, its something to do. I do have other pictures though. I will e-mail them to you.
