Are headers hard to put on

i was thinking aout getting edelbrock TES headers, are they hard to put on, my dad is trying to talk me out of it, he says they rot out fairly fast, and they wouldnt add much power with a y-pipe, any of this true,

I wouldn't say they will rot out quickly. They will rust, although I don't know how fast they would rust completely through. If you are going to do the Edelbrock's, definitely get them coated by a company such as Jet-Hot. They provide a lifetime warranty on rust through. You will certainly get a power gain out of them b/c they are less restrictive than the stock manifolds, especially the y-pipe. As far as how difficult they are to install, it is not difficult, just very time consuming. I would recommend doing a search on this topic as it has been discussed numerous times. That way you can find more info and get others opinions on the subject. Later

If you want Flowmaster, I would recommend the American Thunder series. It's 3" with dual 3" exits. Stainless steel too. Sounds real nice and loud but it does take about 2 months to get it that way. At first it's raspy sounding when cold but each time you drive it you will notice it getting more and more throaty. It's definately the way to go if your going to drop a 350 in down the road.

I would go with the Hooker cat-back. Haven't heard any bad things about and I love mine. Do some searching on these boards and there is a soundclip of the Hooker. And I would recommend getting them coated. Took several months for mine to start rusting. Also it took my brother and I about 6 hours to install, and it is a great performance additive over the restrictive exhaust manifolds. I think your Dad is trying to get you to save money. I hear it all the time.

Come to think of it I dont think I have ever seen a manifold without ANY rust, unless it is extremely new.

3" will be too big until you get headers but then, when you do, the package will be perfect.

How would you 'bump' the fuel pressure? And how does it get you better performance having higher fuel pressure?

Not necessarily, there is a point of running rich which isn't good for a motor.

yeah, but factory settings are on the lean side to boost fuel economy.
