Aah.. the 30 series Yep, they're about as loud as you can get.


and by classic chambered, do you have a cross-section of one? I just want to make sure i'm thinking about the same design as you... basically a Flowmaster w/o the V.

 

Classic Chambered mufflers look like a glasspack with louvers pinched into it. It's also called a "turbo tube" muffler. They sound amazing, look up the GMMG if you want to see the Cadillac of chambered muffler setups.

 

Here I am guys - waiting for your orders! Powersticks are NOT Turbo Tubes either, they are a more "evolved" & improved version, built to flow & also built more heavy-duty.

16", 20", & 26" body lengths - custom length bodies also available. Remember, I'm the blacksmith so I can make em any way you want me to! Nothing outflows a Powerstick, & nothing sounds quite like them.

 

I have seen both the Powerstick, and the turbo tube, and did notice a few differences. The Powersticks have a larger through path and a louvered core while the turbo tubes have a perforated set of pass throughs. You can also get the Powersticks in different ID's where as the turbo tubes only come in 2in through path. Well i dont know about you all, but in my 86 sports coupe i have a 327, i have hooker headers in to 3 inch pipe on either side and into 1 chamber flo's with dumps, and mine sounds awesome......a lil on the loud side when you stomp on it but not that bad when running down the road.....sounds mean as hell too

 

I wouldnt mind goin for a single chambered muffler, but i just booked it in for the 80 series and not looking back, iv looked around and thats what i want (i think) and if i dont like it ill swap it out next summer...

 

geez guy, you still haven't put in the muffler yet? get on it! Get some seat time driving that too, I'm gonna have to race you soon, I need some kind of baseline.

Yiiikes, i was lookin on the web for hooooours and what i think i reallly want, a electric cutout, because i realized my exhaust is actully Really loud on the outside by soo quiet on the inside so i wanna get a cutout to make it Loud, which is what i want im calling the shop tommorow to cancel and hope to god they havent ordered it yet, and if they did they only got my first name and cell number ... who makes a decent electric cutout? Ive seen the 3" electric cutout on hawks but would rather get one here in calgary, sonix you think mopac has em? and btw does mopac install?
And jeeze, something is up with my car... i know 2 other guys with 5L maros and they dont even COMPARE to mine, i know i got the HO but i cant imagine it can make that big of a difference, id like to go in your 350 and see how it feels, or u go in a rip in mine sonix see what ya think

305_qTA has an electric cutout on his otherwise stock 305. His car sounds really nice with it closed (due to leakage), and even better open. I think he gave his car to his brother, but he's in the south, maybe you can PM him and convince him/his brother to show you the car. Give you a real feel for the exhaust note it has.

I'd let you listen to mine, but it's a stock muffler, so it sounds pretty tame, unless you can tell that the slight lope is due to cam, and then when I lay into it.... It roars.

Mopac can probably order you in an electric cutout. Or best buy high perf. They don't do work though, just sales. Did you look into "performance exhaust" in the south? They're a giant performance shop/install place, one part is dedicated to exhaust. I think they'd be your absolute best bet.

 

Im sold on my Flo-Pro V Forces. I have a single 3" driver's side outlet, stock 5.0 with a gutted cat. The best way I can describe the sound is, when you hear a healty mid 90s Mustang Cobra coming about a mile away with Flows on it. That was the sound I was aiming for and I pretty much got it. I have the same setup on my 5.7 car. Sounds a little bit beefier and lower end tone but pretty much the same.

 

I was given a pair of V force mufflers, I loved them. One resided on my Camaro for a summer and the other one I gave to my friend in a 94 Firebird Formula, both cars sounded spectacular with freebie mufflers.

 

Yep, they are the only thing I use now. I was a hardcore Flowmaster 40 guy but when I got my hands on the V-Forces it was all over. It was hard to imagine that someone could improve the sound of a 40 but they did.

 

Whats a good company that makes them? the cheapest i have found is on Hawks for 229US and i dont even know who makes it, i think its Unlimited Performance and Exhaust, which is who i was gonna do my muffler with, but id rather gor for a electric cut out...

I think he got his from summit, and I think it was far cheaper than $229. Electric of course, wingnut style would be kinda stupid.

step 1) go to the canadian forum. It's down below the tech forums, where the area based forums are.
step 2) find the "calgary owners post here" thread. It's called something like that, it's a sticky with like 7 pages.
step 3) go to the last page, I may have the last post. Going back less than 6 posts will find you one of his posts. His sig is his white '86 TA.
step 4) PM him and ask him about it. I think he's back in vancouver now, but I think he gave the car to his brother. Chances are his younger brother has it in the SW, and might show it to you. Or at least Ryan can probably tell you where he got his cutout.

I wouldn't go rushing out to get one until you see one in person, just in case you don't like it. I liked it, but that's just me.

so far, the best sounding and fairly loud is an off road y-pipe with bullet mufflers,

 

GMMG hands down thats what im getting unless I can find a place to build me dauls with similar gmmg setup

 

Which would happen to be exactly what I have, Hedman long tubes into S bends with a newly installed H pipe, into my dual chambered mufflers, to turn downs.
