Longtube header question
I'm considering going to longtubes and wanted to know if anyone offers a transmission crossmember for automatics similar to the Skulte T56 piece that permits the exhaust to route close to the trans and maintain ground clearance. Or is this going to be something I'll have to fabricate myself?

You haven't got enough room around the pan of an automatic for that kind of routing.

Gonna have to fabricate it yourself man.......
Do it right the first time as well, you'll be much happier with the results.
These pics are mine.... and although it works I'm not completely happy with it.
The Y-pipe is squeezed everywhere which sucks and it hangs too low for my liking.... you can see where it scrapes I believe.
Other Pics can be found on one of my other threads..... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...tallation.html

Re: Longtube header question
and this is what I would call a good installation with some Fab work....
The Transmission crossmember is cut and welded for clearance and strength. The exhaust pipe (looks Stainless) is mandrel bent and welded correctly and kept high enough out of the way.....
Now this is a nice job!!!!!!
I saved it to my hard-drive to keep as a reference.

Re: Longtube header question
Good info but it looks like I'd have to swap to a stick to be able to route the exhaust like I'd planned and keep ground clearance. Oh well, something else for my to do list.

Yea, with an auto, no matter what you do with the crossmember, there is not enough room to sneak it by the trans on the passenger side inside the subframe rails.

Re: Longtube header question
Actually I'm somewhat doing that. I manufactured a new crossmember and will relocate it to the back about 4 inches. This will allow room for an exhaust pipe to run on the passenger side of the transmission.
I have also incorporated a drive shaft loop and moved the torque arm off the transmission to the new crossmember. One could leave the torque arm on the transmission and this would provide more room for an exhaust pipe on the drivers side. I would have to rework mine a little to do that.
Here are some WORK IN PROGRESS pictures. There are gussets to be installed for further strengthening. But this gives you the general idea.

Re: Longtube header question
that looks awesome, and the welds are great! but i'd be afraid that the aluminum would crack under stress...super stiff stuff, but doesn't like to flex when it needs to.

Maybe so. We will find out.

Re: Longtube header question
I fabbed up a new transmission cross member with double humps. I run 3.5 inch oval exhaust straight to the rear axel with no bends. There is a thread in the exhaust section some where.
