This may or may not be the same guy I got the mufflers from previously. Don't know. But another TGO member PM'd me this. Figured I'd share it with the community. Good luck!
For my stock LB9 IROC, looking at the Walker SoundFX muffler for an OEM sound and also want mandrel bent, OEM looking tailpipes. Any recommendations?
I have the Walker SoundFX Cat Back on one of my ThirGen's... If you're looking for the pur of a kitten get the Walker SoundFx. If you're looking for the growl of a lion... get something else.
For a stock style muffler, there are only so many options that really will replace the stock muffler exactly. Dynomax offers a 'Super Turbo', and an Ultra Flo(w?) that are pretty much drop in replacements. They also sell a Ultra Flo(w?) that up's the ante by being a true 3" in and dual 2.5" out. Why does that matter? Because a lot of 'stock replacement' mufflers are going to be a 2.5" in and dual 2.5" or 2.25" out. People like the just round up the size to the next number that sounds good and logical, but if you measure things the stock "Good" intermediate pipe is 2.75" necking down to 2.5" where it slips inside the muffler.
A lot of the replacement mufflers marketed for thirdgens, whether they're part of a cat-back system or stand alone, are going to be a random size inlet/outlet, and this part that bugs me - the case is often considerably shorter. No big deal, you just grab a dozen exhaust pipe cut-offs from the scrap bin and extend your tips and intermediate pipe until everything reaches. And if a super picky soul like myself or some of the History/Originality nerds peeks under and sees all the welds and couplers, we're likely to lose a lunch.
Another thought on the Walker/Dynomax line-up... Pretty much everything below the Super Turbo is going to be quieter than stock. Even the Ultra Flo(seriously is there a W? Idk) is considered very quiet. Even without a cat they're quiet. Get into something like a Flowmaster and you get more noise and the same performance. Different brands and designs give different levels of noise. If you want to hear it at all, watch out for most of the stock replacement mufflers because they'll be quiet.

Good advice..
I like a Flowmaster or Magnaflow.. With a cat its not too loud but the idle is nice..
I think those are the same that I posted.. direct fit to the Xcelerator muffler..
Yup, those are them. If someone could combine those tail pipes with one of the OEM GM mufflers from my first link, it would take a sharp eye to tell it wasn't factory.
Thanks for all the advice. I went with a Walker 18375 SoundFX which is advertised as a drop in replacement and being the OEM sound (perforated inner tube muffler). For the tailpipes I went with the AP. Those bevel cuts are OEM.

Depends on the tail pipes. Those AP exhaust tail pipes are close to 82-89-ish pipes. 91-92 pipes actually turn down.
The closer exhaust was what was left of the stock trash on my 86 TA. The further is the Walker Dynomax 2.75 intermediate pipe (46669?) with the stock muffler and tips from my 91 Formula. FWIW the muffler and pipes on my Formula now are from a 93-97 Formula or Trans Am, it's the same exact muffler but with slightly longer pipes and the Quad chrome or stainless tips. To be honest, the tucked turn downs on later thirdgens just give up a little too much pizzazz.
