Value of a 1987 Yellow IROC w/T-Tops
I have a chance to buy a 1987 factory Yellow IROC with factory glass T-Tops and the LB9. It has the 700R4 and Black cloth interior. The VIN # is : 1G1FP21F5HL132095. It also has rear drum brakes
The front facia has some cracks on the bottom as expected, the paint on the car is very oxidized but very saveable. It has a small amount of body damage on the rear passenger quarter panel near the taillights. The black cloth interior is totally thrashed and will need to be completely redone. It still has the original wheels which are mint and all of the IROC decals are in place and look good. The tranny doesn't slip and the engine runs strong but is VERY dirty. It's missing the T-Top inserts and storage bag too. Overall though it's a very solid car. It shouldn't take more than a grand to redo the interior the way it is and some hard work to bring back the exterior.
They are asking $2500 which seems high to me so I was going to offer $1500 but with the interior restored and the exterior cleaned up as well as the engine bay, how much would this car be worth??????? Would I be able to sell it for say $4500? Either way I was just thinking it would make a good 3rd gen beater car to drive everyday since I can't find a good condition good running V6 in my town to save my life.....

You didn't mention the mileage. But assuming it's not completely out of hand, and the car was reasonably restored, it might go for $4,500 in my part of the country. Around here it seems like you pay more and get less. I'll bet they go for less in California. There's more of them around and none of them should be rusty.

Thats pretty high miles for a winter state. Not bad for California, if the miles were 100-110k then maybe 4500. As a point of reference I looked at an 85 Iroc with 105,000, and similar options the guy wanted 5,500. This was two years ago and here in Wisconsin, he did sell it so I'm assuming he got around 5000 for it.

As fas I know they were offered all years 82-92 on all car with t-Tops, they were standard, not option I'd think. They should have been in a cardboard box in the rear of your car wrapped in plastic inside the box. They go to the underneath of the T-Top on the inside of the car to keep the sun out. They match your headliner...

When I first saw 92GTA's post I about freaked out. I thought I got ripped off because I was saving plastic wrap from my car's seats and steering wheel and everything else I could see worth throwing into the plastic bag and I didn't get the T-Tops inserts wrapped in plastic.
Then I thought well I have never even looked in the spare tire area and it hasn't even been opened up since it left the factory. I thought, I wonder if its in there. I was ready to go to the garage for the treasure hunt and then I scrolled a little more down the page.
Gosh 92GTA don't do that anymore you can make an old man's blood pressure go up real quick.
Can you still get this inserts?
Chet

mGiTkAe92, yup DE4 is the RPO for the sunshades.
As for the years they were offered i'm not sure. But my 1990 3.1 'bird came from the factory with them. And, yup they match the headliner. Love having them, especially in the winter...helps keep the car warmer. Two other friends had a '91 bird and a '91 camaro and they didn't have them. Don't know if they were offerend and they just didn't have the otption or whatever....just FYI.
