I'd hate to be the sorry fool who buys it WAY over-priced, and then GM releases the "new" camaro in 2005.

True. If it were to be the actual last Camaro ever produced then it might be worth the inflated price it goes for. A 5th gen Camaro would pretty much spoil that, though. However, word is that the Firebird won't return....

I'd take it if they sold it at a fair price, but for investment, I'd rather have the prototype #1 new GTO.

I worked in detroit for a year. I couldn't take it! Being an extreme car nut I dreamed of working where the big three came to life. I had visions of knocking around with other engineers as we determined the next up and coming ride. What did I find? Coperate America had sucked the life out of it. I almost wanted to cry as I drove around to see desolate factories and broken down where houses. Large empty lots that used to house the new models as they rolled off the line were a harsh reminder of what was. What happens now? The creative process is extremely diluted and anything that is produced is farmed out to a sweat shop for pennies on the dollar. Most of the engineers at the big three do not have the slightest clue as to what gasoline smells like. What did I do? I came home! I know design big yellow tractors and I save the cars for my own personal enjoyment. Sorry for the long post just had to get that off my chest.

I still work at GM here in Detroit, and I love it and could never see myself working anywhere else. Although it's just trannys & not actual cars, it's still fun to be a part of the industry. Thanks to Lutz, GM is actually doing things right once again & Mr. Corporate Jim is becoming less intrusive. You bring up some very valid points DAVECS1, but this town sure ain't for everybody!

More on topic, i've heard that once GM finds a suitable RWD platform, the Camaro will almost definitely return (i.e. 2005). The Firebird, as stated above, most likely will not.

83TransAm, don't get me wrong there are still a few up there that fight the good fight, and that is why I said most and not all engineers. I had a lot of friends from FSAE competitions that I hung out with and sometimes worked with and I believe that we were doing our best to bring back yesteryear, but youth is hard stereotypr to overcome. I worked for a company that makes prototype stuff and has a nascar team and was very closely associated with ford and chrysler. I saw lots of inside stuff, but what bothered me is they were going through us to get around the coperate hubub of a big company. How is it you produce a quality car when your working with money time parts you are not even suppose to have. Twice I drove cars that were not even suppose to exist to meetings and was told jokingly If you get pulled over we do not know you. Sometimes I feel like I sold out and gave up the good fight, but when you are into something so much sometimes it is hard to see it done wrong.
