What exactly is the LT package?
well, i gotta 87 sport coupe with the LT package, but i am not really sure what the package is supposed to be. the motor was originally a v6, but is now a pretty quick 310/700r4/3.73 combo. interior is still mostly stock with the exception of the aftermarket guages on the a-pillar and under the center vents.

"LT" Limited Traction???
Just kidding.. Actually I believe for Chevrolet the LS = Luxury Sport, and LT was "Limited"
As far as standard options, I am not sure, but I am pretty sure the LT replaced the Berlinetta from 1986.
From what I understand the LT package was very unusual tho, which is a cool thing

The "Berlinetta" replaced the "Type LT" Camaro, starting in about 78 or so. They dropped the "Berlinetta" after 86, and went back to "LT" for one year.
It was an appearance package. No functional components of any kind. It was basically marketed at people who wanted the "sporty" image, but didn't want to pay for actual "performance" they weren't interested in (read: young females ... think of it as a "chick car"). They came with the absolute base model motors; the LG4 was the best you could get.
Nobody in the world at large really cares how many or how few of them there were, except people who have them and think they're special somehow (like people who have Berlinettas). Nobody else is interested.

ok, i just didn't want to start tearing into this thing (ie guage cluster, interior color swap, etc....all tasteful mind you) and find out later that i just screwed something really special up. i think that this is one of the cooler thirdgens i have owned, just by looks, but as far as performance, i know what you mean. the car was base model v6/auto with no power windows, no power door locks. no power hatch. it's kinda cool, i have an absolutely bare center console.
here's a cool pic of the car now...still needs paint, but i think she looks pretty good.

I just was wondering what on your car told you it was an LT? Is it an RPO?

My first car was an 87 camaro LT
There was nothing really special about it, but I liked it.
It had AC, cruise, tilt, intermittent wipers...that was about it.
Oh, yeah, it had GFX, but only between the wheels...none on the front or rear. It was the only setup like that I've ever seen. I never thought much about the LT...just happened to see this thread title and thought I'd add what I know.

well, it had LT emblems on the B-pillars, but i guess that could have been added by the previous owner, but with the kind of condition the car was in, i think not.
anyone know where i can get updated LT emblems? i think the Tahoe has an LT package, i wouldn't mind putting some of those emblems on there. and maybe some fourth gen camaro emblems, the ones that go one the front fender right behind the wheels

The LT replaced the Berlinetta in '87 and was basically the same. This option was dropped completely in '88.
