How to mount a PS2

Hey guys, I had a request to post something about mounting my PS2. Im not good with this kinda stuff like posting attachments and stuff so bare with me. Here's a brief explanation on how I did it. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.
My apoligies for it not being actually mounted in the car. The Piggies didn't like it too much so I had to take it out (temporarly).

1. Go to Lowes and get just a flat peice of steel to bend up.
Bend it up so that it cradles the PS2 on the shelf on the front

3. I used two existing holes to mount my bracket under the dash; I think part of the HVAC.

4. Run your wires behind the center console. The RCAs running to the tv, and I just used a 100watt power inverter in the cig lighter to power the system. The only bad part was that if you were using it when the car is off and you start it, the power would turn off.

5. Some may have to support the rear of the system with another bracket. I did not have to support it because the power and A/V wires coming out of the rear supported it perfectly. They sat right ontop of where the carpet ends and against the firewall. It was enough to support the little stress that it was putting on the rear.

I think that about covers the basics. I'll post some pictures here in a few minutes. Let me know if you need any further help

Not a big fan of the location, easily seen and stolen

I would move the inverter up under the dash too

Re: How to mount a PS2

Thanks a lot, man. This is exactly what I needed. I'm going to have to tweak a few things for mine, seeing as how my console is larger and heavier, but I think I can pull it off.

Looks pretty cool. Why not go with the smaller PS2, I know are cars are not known for space?

Re: How to mount a PS2

not trying to be mean but it looks tacky, you just screwed it to the bottom of your dash, your converter is an eye sore sticking out of the cig lighter, and to top it all off you're using the big ps2 which is ugly all by itself. maybe if you could like cut a cubby in the dash for the ps2 to sit in with a cover to go over the front when not in use. i always thought itd be cool to have it sit above the radio and hvac controls but not just hanging under my dash.

Re: How to mount a PS2

Or maybe you could also put in an Xbox 360 underneath the ps2, and then a Nintendo Wii box under the seat with a 46" plasma in the hatch area and using a wireless internet connection you could eat Cheetos while you play Halo online and wonder while your ***** is orange.

Overall though, it does look somewhat tacky, and the previous suggestions are good. I would hide that power converter though stat.

quoting the king of *******s that's funny considering you've been registered since 04 and you wait to post crap like this it's no wonder your not around much lol... nice work ace, it made me laugh!

chevyguy5 adding the ps2 is a nice idea, especially for show cars as it can get boring or if your looking to have something to do on long drives however i can't nicely comment on the overall look of your install so we'll just leave it alone. to some of the other comments the larger ps2 is a major heat sink... enclosing it will cause problems so while the area he chose doesn't look good it's really ideal for the unit itself. i personally would have hidden it though and any wires now days coming from your cigarett lighter is a no-no. i do compliment you on it at least working though!

i just put a ps3 in my 91 more or less just because, i had a ps2 in the car and i must say the ps3 is much nicer. with the wifi i can access the internet now while i'm sitting around at a show as well as the other goodies and it's wireless controllers help for turing it off.

i would suggest moving the unit to the rear of the car. hard wire your inverter so that you don't have wires running everywhere and go spend $20 on wireless controllers. it will look a lot better and in the end isn't that the point as i can't imagine you put a ps2 in your car just because you like to play games..

so because this person tries to put a ps2 in his car he's considered white trash? at least he's interested in something and trying. you might not agree with it but 90% of the white trash population can't afford a cd player let alone a ps2, who cares if this person wants it this way.

on that logic i guess my car with a 700 horse blown ls6 is white trash because it has a ps3? well so be it lol... at least i look damn good sportin my mu!!et and while i'm waiting for you to finish our race i can check my pm's on thirdgen.org at the nearest starbucks.

it's great to be white trash..

With that said.

If you think about it, and are on a small budget the console you would most benefit from is the xbox. (Not 360, although it would work the same way). You have a hard drive that you can just load up with MP3's, you can even save your games to the hard drive so that your CD doesn't f-up every time you hit a bump. That all together would probably cost you around 80 bucks.

Now, if you want to be cool, and install something worth your while, visit www.mp3car.com check out their FORUMS.

I guarantee you will spend days there researching and looking at sooo many different possibilities.
