broken seat bolt.

today i begun to remove my seats to make way for my new 4th gen seats. now all of the bolts are rusted beyond belief, and on the passanger side i got 3 out of 4 bolts off with a lot of pb blaster, and muscle, and when i went to get the 4th one off, the nut and bolt broke clean off. has anyone else had this problem? and does anyone have an idea of what i should do, guessing i gotta find a way ot get under the car and put a new one in?

Re: broken seat bolt.

sounds like you might need to try an Easy-out bit.....

Edit: never mind I didn't read it right, I thought you were talking about seat -belt- bolts not the ones on the floor

Re: broken seat bolt.

the bolts are welded to the seat rails on the floor pans, going to have to weld a new one in place....... or you can do the hackjob way and drill all the way through the floor and put a piece of threaded rod in to hold it.

if you do this. noone will ever no the difference. i did just 2 weeks ago one the driver side. and if you don't do something then the seat will rock and not be very safe. i just drilled a 1/2 inch hole put in a bolt with washer up through the hole and the nut on the inside. it will do till you can manage the right way

i just put the seat in to use it as a guide and then drilled all the way through the floor. then just reach your hand with the bolt under the car and slide it through the hole. the bolt needs to be at least two inches... i think. good luck

Re: broken seat bolt.

Get a Step Drill Bitt and drill hole large enough to retrieve nut with a magnet, get correct socket wrench and use tape to avoid nut from dropping off wrench, insert nut and wrench into hole and present it to the bolt, tighten bolt from the top, use a metal washer with the nut if nut hole is too big, took me 20 minutes
