Re: wanna test a ls1 before buying? urgent

uhh... I'm going to assume it has the full harness and PCM....

supply the proper power and grounds (see your fuse box + starter), fuel pump in a bucket... I'm also guessing your not going to use coolant... DON'T LEAVE IT ON FOR LONG!!!

also, do your own homework... don't trust mine. All the above seems like more then it's worth. I would say, pull the valve covers and oil pan. check that bottom end out. if it's okay... go for it.

got my 98 LS1+T56, ls1 tank, harness, pedals and some other stuff for only $1750.

If it was me, and the price was right, I would just buy it as is. Your going to be rebuilding the motor anyways I would hope. As long as the price is right I say just go for it.

Re: wanna test a ls1 before buying? urgent

Yea you can do that. Just make sure the pump puts out the proper psi for the engine. For $1500, I would take that in a heartbeat!!

Re: wanna test a ls1 before buying? urgent

sure there is a way

the sell price is $1500

what you aren't taking into account is the seller can tell you to take a hike

if it only needed a fuel pump the seller would put one in and sell the car for over $4,000 unless of course it's wrecked?

You can cut a hatch and replace a 4th gen fuel pump with relative ease.

Re: wanna test a ls1 before buying? urgent

dude that's a lot of hassle for a car this is being sold for cheap. You are going to need a High pressure external pump, fuel line, gm quick connect for fuel rail, Corvette regulator, wire, and a fire extinguisher for when something effs up and burns the car to the ground.

Ps you will look like a super retard showing up with all this crap asking to see if you can get it to run.

If I was selling a car for $1500 and you showed up with a bucket of gas and a external fuel pump I would tell you to leave. Either buy the damn car or leave the guy alone.

I said the same thing but a little more diplomatically. The red flag here is that if it really is just a fuel pump why wouldn't the seller replace it and get it running so he could get $3,000 more for the car?

But, on the flip side, a complete LS1 4th gen for $1500 even if the engine is shot is a good deal and chances are the OP is young and doesn't realize it's one of thoe things in life you jump all over. Experience will teach him that as he matures.

It's like the new leather interior you find for $250 and rush to the forum to ask if it's a good deal instead of buying it immediately.

nah, I wouldn't say that. To those with experience we look at things like a $1500 complete LS1 car as a no brainer. Heck, go to the exhaust section and read the threads hemming and hawing over a $200 set of headers.

We tend to forget what it was like when everything we did was for the first time.

Re: wanna test a ls1 before buying? urgent

this guy isn't going to let you hook all this stuff up. 2 ppl here told you what to do to start it... and EVERYONE told you that it's not worth the hassle.

what else do you need to know?

Re: wanna test a ls1 before buying? urgent

Ide be buying that thing quick. No hesitation. Heck even being broke as a joke Im thinkign to myself that I would find a way. Even if you just turned around and parted it you'd see a nice return on your investment. Unless its wrecked or stolen like previously stated.

Im assuming he's advertising it somewhere? If you dont ****** it up...someone else will!
