so, yesterday i decided to trade my 79 z28 for a 91 rs. I thought it was a decent trade, i liked my 79, but i missed having a third gen. I'll add some pics and details for your viewing pleasure, lol.

The car is a 91 rs hard top z28 clone. The car has a crate 305 with tuned port fuel injection, a rebuilt 700r4, a 9in rearend with a hotchkis pan hard bar, and sway bar. And it also has some subframe connectors. It has a 4.11 gear set and a posi unit, with disc brakes. It also has some different axelshafts (ill post a pic of them). It is a hardtop, and somebody had a sunroof installed. It doesnt leak, (fingers crossed). It also has moog front coil springs and a what looks like either an iroc or ws6 sway bar in the front, and I still need to find a front chin spoiler for it.

 

so today i got a used front chin spoiler, i sanded it down and painted it black (for now) Ill try to get some paint mixed up for it in the next week or so.

Your thirdgen looks pretty decent, but I'm not sure I would've traded that black beauty for it...

Ya, I wouldn't kept the 79. I do really like that RS though, it's a work in progress but so far, a job well-done. I just think the 79 is probably worth a lot more, and that style is much more timeless than the early 90s thirdgens. Just personal preference though. If you like your car, roll it! and congratulations on it!

Btw, score on that chin spoiler, they're hard to come by up in WA where I'm at.

 

yeah, i had my fun with the 79, but i was bored with it. I like the third gens better, i preffer the 2nd gen t/a's, and the third gen camaro's. So far im very happy with my decission

 

PAINTED!!!!

I just got done painting the new chin spoiler. The paint was cracked and flaking off of the rear bumper, so i masked it off and sanded it down and respayed it while i had the gun out


The rear bumper had a wierd reaction where the old paint had cracked, so theres a couple "chicken tracks" or whatever you call them in the rear gxf piece, but im fine with that, it looks 100x better.

What color and paint is that? Your 79 was pretty sweet! I think you made the right choice I mean that is why we are all here, we love third gens!

 

there hard to come by, pick and pull in lynwood wa has a few decent shaped thirdgens if you need one though. great thirdgen! 79' looked great too!

 

the color is a stock gm color, lol, and i used a ppg paint. And yes, its a ford rearend on my chevy, lol.

 

I live in Spokane Jeff, people aren't as nice to their cars over here as they are on your side of the state (the closer you get to idaho...)

I was at pull n save and found what used to be a sweeeet rs. Someone to a bunch of nails and stuck them through the chin spoiler so it had like spikes sticking forward.

 

woah insane. if i find one next ill get a few, and wont charge crazy prices.

 

Seriously. Thirdgens have a tought time in WA, one the west side, they either rust or are crushed by enviro-*****, and all the hicks over here just beat on them. Motivates me to keep mine nice.

The OP's one looked like at one time, it may have fallen into the wrong hands, good thing it was saved.
