Hey guys. I think I'm going to ditch my carb actually. I never thought I'd see the day, but I do believe it might actually happen.
The Accel DFI kit says it's for up to 510hp. That's fine and dandy for the 350 I have now, but what about the 383 I'd like to put it on that's either going to be supercharged or nitroused? Will it not work right or what?
I saw that holley has a nice EFI setup that has plenty of room for gobs of power. Commander 950, I believe.

The Pro-Ram system you are referring to is only limited by the injectors they include with the kit. Order the system with the injectors you like, and the intake will support hundreds more horsepower...

GMI,

My car is a stock(MAF) 5.7 w/ATI 10#'s of intercooled boost,
any help would be appreciated,

Maniacc, try talking to EFI Systems. They are the guys that make the PMS (Programable Managment System) controler. It plugs in between the stock ecm and the harness. It retains all factory accesories & emissions equipement but gives you complete control. It comes with it's own palm size controller or you can use a laptop. It has data logging too.
Also FastTrack Performance makes "piggybag harnesses that allow you to retain your stock ecm and use the Accel or Speedpro ECM to handle fuel & spark. They have splice, in or plug in harnesses. the PMS is cheaper. With the Fast Track setup you have to buy the adapter and the ecm setup + laptop.

What are the general vibes about the new Accel DFI Pro Ram system? It seems like a great deal, 510 hp MPFI setup for $1800. What advantages does the Superram offer for another $1200?
Application - 388, AFR 195s, 224/230@.05 roller hydraulic, ~450 hp @ 5500 in a 76 Vette.

There's a problem with that Programmable Management System...it's not offered for Camaros! Go to their website, then to priving, then to General Motors, and it will state "no longer available." Which sucks, it looked like a great system to me. Does anyone know if they can custom-build a GM version? I do NOT see why they don't do f-bodies or y-bodies

They used to make one that worked on all camaro & corvette from '86 to '90 TPI and TBI. I called & talked to one of the guys from EFI Systems about the PMS for GMs. He said they ran out of parts to make them for the GM application and just didn't order any more parts to make more because they weren't getting a lot of orders for them
. I know they would have sold more of them if more people knew about them. They are a great system with awesome capabilities. They retain the stock ECM to run the ancillary devices. They are super easy to install, You just unplug the stock ecm and plug in the PMS harness between the stock ECM and its stock plug. They give you complete control of spark & fuel. They have boost auxilary enrichment, Nitrous control, nitrous fuel enrichment, boost & nitrous timing retard, rev limit control, torque converter control, cold start tuning & tons of other stuff including data logging. It is a killer setup. You don't even need a computer to tune it but you can use one if you want to. I wish I had known in advance they were going to stop making them for GMs I would have bought one or two to have for future projects.
Maybe if enough people asked them to, they would order more parts & make some more for the GM app. I would be willing to order one or two to participate in a group purchase if any one was interested & if EFI Systems would do it
.
If anyone has one they would like to sell (new or used) let me know.

robzr: I am currently using the Pro-Ram on my turbocharged 406, which will be installed this winter. It is best suited for either large-cube or high rpm applications. Or both.

IROCKZ, I emailed them, asking them if they would maybe put together a custom one for me. Haven't gotten a response yet, but that's understandable, being near the holidays and everything. I'd definately be interested in a purchase like that. I BET that with the right pursuasion, we can get a couple made for F-body fellas such as ourselves. I'll let you know what their response is. Email me if you wanna talk more about it... wolf6t9@swbell.net

They already have the engineering done. They were producing them. They say they just didn't reorder parts. These are "killer" systems. One part number works with 86-90 TBI or TPI. That's a lot of applications covered. If they got enough order requests they may just consider ordering the parts & building some. I hope so, like I said they are one of the best I've seen.

GMI, does that Pro-Ram come with the Accel DFI kit or is it a seperate piece?
And I'm just making sure. Eventhough the DFI kit says it's good up to 510 horses, I can put in bigger injectors that will allow it to handle higher horse situations?
Or is that just for the Holley MPFI setup?

The Pro-Ram is available as a complete setup with DFI, or you can purchase each item individually. To help handle my 800 hp goal, I am having my Pro-Ram port-matched to my heads as well as ExtrudeHoned. I am also running 72# injectors. It is a very nice setup...

Hey TruePower, I would also be interested in getting one of these (PMS systems)if they would make them.Let me know what you find out from them.I would bet we could get at least 10 people interested in these units. You know I had never heard of these until I read this thread but from what I read about the system they sound realy sweet.Keep me posted via this thread or my email bhoward@cappsvanrental.com.
Thanks
