not getting mad, but what is up with only 1 search every 45 seconds? seems kinda pointless....

 

It helps keep the server load within normal range. If a bunch of people were hammering the search, it could cause spikes in the server load that would lead to overall forum performance decrease until the load returned to normal.

Many sites do have a flood check, but some are set lower than what TGO currently has. Since vB's search feature isn't the best, and because of the large amount of data and users at this site, the server load can be an issue.

Dirk would know best, since he has more access and knowledge of this server, but generally, that's the reason.

another thing, how do i log off, i visit thirdgen on a multitude of computers from different places, and dont want myself to stay signed in on all of them

 

Go to the main page and in the lower right corner it says Log Out along with some other links.
