I just got through reading a post where people said that you can simultaneously install a set of Spohn and Alston subframe connectors.

My question is, would these Alston (https://www.secureway1.com/alston/in...?productID=184) subframe connectors be compatible at the same time with a set of SFC's from UMI and would the added benefit really be worth the pricetag over having just the UMI's?

On my old 84Z28 I had the older Competition Engineering which is a lot like the UMI brand. The only thing that I changed on the C.Engineering was the metal that runs from the sills to the center member. I changed that to 1/4in steel plate to get the max ground clearance. That would be all you ever need. It worked fantastic.

I am currently in the process of installing the alstons. I already have a set of UMI sfc installed.

I really dont see the need of the Alistons if you already have the UMI. I had Competition Engineering before on a TTop car and they were great. I was speaking of what I am doing now because now I own a convertible and I feel like I need all the strenght that I can get.

I had the UMI's welded in which made a night and day difference. I am interested in getting the Alston's now.

Most of the aftermarket connectors like our and UMI'S go front to back. The Alstons tie the inner frame rail together. It is ok to use a combination of the two. If your intereste dher are some piccs of our connectors. They are much stronger than the Alstons but when used with them they work very well. We offer two types, one for full length headers and one for stock style exhaust. Give me a call if you have any questions.

Made a good difference when going up on sidewalks and drives a bit more stiff... Obviously not as much of a difference as when i first put on the MAC frame connectors, but still significant...
