Chassis Stiffening, Anything New?
Outside of subframe connectors, installing a cage, or swapping to the Roadster Shop chassis, is there anything new going on with our cars?
Years ago I remember a user (maybe Jim85IROC or something like that?) talked about using some kind of structural foam injection to stiffen up the body/chassis of the car. I don't know if anything ever happened with that. Recently, I've seen a video about a honda civic being stiffened in Japan using a technique where they clad the floor sheet metal in carbon fiber and fuse it with resin and vacuum bagging. I guess it reinforces the original sheet metal quite a bit. Around 10:30 they are showing how it's done.
And yes I know that SFCs and cages are affordable, proven and relatively simple, but I'm still curious if anyone else has seen anything else outside of the box.

Welding all the seams.
Detroit Speed steering brace is a big leap forward from wander bar.
Bracing across the trans tunnel.

The least intrusive ways to REALLY stiffen the car will still cause you to lose the back seat.
In my opinion.
Its best to use triangles and make that less intrusive than to get gimmicky.

Agreed, but let's be honest, no one buying and driving these cars today are using the back seats for much.

I don't see the steering brace on their website? Any pictures or info on it? Also, if you have any other information you can point me too about someone seam welding or special cross bracing for the trans tunnel I'd be interested to read.

It comes with their front sway bar kit or suspension kit. They don't show it separately. Not sure if you can get it by itself.

ditto on the DSE wonder bar. it's WORLD's ahead of any other wonder bar design.
if you have sticky front tires, that brace is a must.
I have a video installing it as well, it will ruin your alignment, but that's the cost to install it.

Wow that is an expensive kit. Looks really cool but overkill for my setup. Definitely bookmarking that kit for later though.
