Im praying this setup will get me running 13's

I posted awhile back that I was "retiring" my 91 RS but fate has turned its head, again, and decided that I am to keep my car. Seeing as i hate driving anything with less than 300 horsepower, Ive tried to plan out a somewhat "economical" engine buildup that will hopefully yield high 13 second results. I have a friend that's gonna basically give me a 350 4-bolt main shortblock that is bored .030 over. The only thing Im gonna replace are the bearings, gaskets and buy some forged pistons that are gonna give me about a 9.75:1 compression ratio with a set of 64cc Trick Flow aluminum heads. Ported and polished at home of course. I wanna use a 454 TB, with the ultimate TBI mods, AFPR, high flow fuel pump, 454 injectors, and an Edelbrock manifold. For the exhaust, Im gonna put on coated headers, without AIR tubes or AIR pump, breating out of a straight 3 inch pipe, no cat, and an 80 series flowmaster. Im gonna do the accel cap, rotor and wires upgrade; i already got an MSD coil on the car. A march underdrive pulley, 3.73 posi gears in a built up 10 bolt, subframe connectors, and some decent shocks are also in the plans. To top it all off, I wanna use a ZZ4 cam with 1.5 roller rockers. As for the comp chip, im gonna have that custom programmed by Fastchip. I hope in the name of all that is holy that i will see high 13's at the end of this road. Im throwing this out there for you guys to look at in case i missed something or made some other stupid mistake. A lot of these parts are gonna come from junkyards, ive got some of them already, and the rest ill order whenever my paycheck comes in. I have a lot of friends in the buisness that can get my exhaust and rearend work done for next to nothing. I still haven't decided on what tranny/tranny setup to go with. Thanks for the help

taht is an easy 13second combo dude. jsut skip teh fast chip. get a real custom prom done, not a sheet of paper and a prayer tune up. find a laptop to borrow and dat log the car a little, someoen aroudn ehre can prolly hook you up wiht a starter chip to get it running ok and then help you tune it in from there.

I never thought about it that way, lol. It's almost as good as saying the TPI manifold looks like a metal spider humping the engine. Thanks for the tips. I already got a laptop so that's one thing i dont need to worry about. I've also given some thought to having the car dyno tuned by Fastchip. I only live about 100 miles from their place so that's something to think about. For 500, you get your car dyno tuned by someone in the know but i guess that takes all the "fun" out of dialing the car in yourself, lol.

for a lot less than $500 you can get into tunign chips on your own and prolly get it done in the same amount of time.

I gotta admit though, Im a little intimidated at the thought of taking on chip tuning. I have no idea where to even begin learning the basics, let alone get the equipment or software. On the other hand, I love challenges and have always felt pride in doing my own work. I take it you do your own chip tuning?

Almost forgot to ask, any idea how long a stock T-5 would hold up to the engine described above? BTW, I still need this thing to be a daily driver, which is why im not going radical on the cam or putting in 4.10's. Ive heard the ZZ4 is a pretty streetable cam, makes good torque, and sounds good, so thats why i picked it. I guess the definition of 'daily driver' is pretty subjective

I"m with NJ Speeder on the time's you should be getting...I'm hoping to run high 13's with mine, and you're gonna have way more than I"ve got (I can almost hear the snickers already from the guys who read my signature and think "high 13's with that? Good luck!" lol Maybe I'll just run it with the top down so it feeeeeeeeeels faster .
Speeder..is it really that easy to burn a prom? I went to Fastchip for mine too...can't say I'm unhappy...car runs fine..but then again, I had nothing to compare it with. Maybe the most challenging part of burning your own is working up the guts to try it. Hmmm, maybe you can give me a short course in August at the F-body Nats...my car wasn't done in time for last years, but I'm already planning now to be there this time. For now, I'll keep myself busy getting the new seats and carpet in...

Deemax, that looks like 13's to me. No snickers, honest.
as long you 'unchoked' your factory TBI, I think 13's is already there.
