87 octane is good enough for your LO3TBI. I would only use a higher octane if you start hear a knock. Then again a knock good mean other things as well...a tune up.

I use medium grade 89 octane. I have an 89 RS and the manual specifies if you drive like grandma going to church the regular will do it. But for any other type of other driving like driving a car load of people or medium duty stop and go, use med, and if you have detonation with that, use premium. If reg works for you, go for it, save a few bucks Then you can use that money to build your car up so it only uses premium

87 or 89 are fine if the timing in your car is still at stock settings. if you want to advance your timing for more performance then you may hafta move to a higher grade to take full advantage.

My timing is Advanced 8* and run 92. I don't have a problem with knock while it's cold, but as soon as the car gets hot (200-220) It starts to knock under load.

Nothing a 160 stat and loweer temp fan switch won't fix!! =)

That it did, all the manuals were included with the car including the top manual. They are in fair shape considering their age. Why do you ask?

i was wondering about proper operation and maintainance of my top and concidering that our cars are modified by asc,i was'nt sure it would be covered by the owners manual.i've wondered why a removable hardtop was never offered.with two mounts in front and one in the center of the back,it would seem a natural.then i could drive in bad weather with the cloth top safe under the cover
